And it's often reflected by American's on usenet - the comments which show a
great deal of mistrust by individuals of your Administration and politicians
of all persuasions. I sometimes wonder how long this feeling/attitude of
disaffection has been going on.
Going on what I have been able to glean from literature and odd bits of history
here and there, there seems to have been a tradition of anarchism in the US
going back at least to the 1930ies. What is perplexing is how these anarchistic
attitudes have swung from left wing, i.e. being 'natural' allies of the
communist party to right wing, being 'natural' allies of survivalists, oddball
cults, and organisations I hesitate to name.
But the other thing your comment made me wonder about, was when was the last
time you (or any of us in a modern western democracy) felt or believed that
government didn't serve the interests of moneyed interests.
Funny you should say that. I'd name our current government. They've managed to
pull back a large amount of damage that the previous neo-con fools made of the
country. We have nearly full employment, the health system is recovering except
for mental health, the economy is humming like it hasn't hummed in the 27 years
I've lived here. (Sadly the education system is in the dumps, but that's
another story). Yet it looks like the sheeple are quite possibly going to elect
John Keys who stands for the Big Money Interests and has nothing to offer the
electorate <sigh>. I don't like a lot of the PC bull that goes with the current
crowd, but that aside they're actually doing something for the Country, rather
than just selling out to the robber barons.
