IOW, those in the UK who have a legitimate reason to own and use
permitted guns, have not been dissuaded by the licensing requirements.
Which are only a matter of not being a criminal or nutcase, filling
in
a form, getting two referees, and paying a pretty trivial charge. Such
requirements may be regarded as difficult or onerous by people like
you;
but not here.
Sounds to me like you live in a police state.
Janet has missed the part where two police officers will visit the home
of each applicant for a firearms certificate to assess the suitability
of the applicant and inspect security arrangements.
The security assessment of the premises is done by a (single) firearms
enquiry officer, by appointment - after the background checks of the
license applicant are complete.
While I expect that the average UK inspection is more thorough, it's the
same idea (minimizing risk) as the premises inspection agreed to by a
U.S.
applicant for a homeowners/renters insurance policy.
If you really, really, believe inviting a cop, an agent of the state, into
your home for an "inspection" is the same as an insurance agent performing
an audit ...... I can't begin to find the words to describe how
spectacularly ignorant you are.
If you really, really believe that cops are such a threat then I can't begin
to describe how paranoid or fearful you must be.
Perhaps you have good reason to be that way and either have a criminal
record or should have one, or your cops give you good reason to be fearful
of them, but please don't project your fears or paranoid beliefs onto those
who have no reason to share it.
I'm hoping, given your propensity
for trolling to start an argument using stupid remarks, this is just
another move on your part to provoke a fight - please tell me that's your
intent.
Why try to project your continued behavioural patterns onto Ann?
