Per Jan Flora:
If you ever saw a wolf in real life

I've seen a couple of sharks in real life and that's just about
my reaction.

What species?

It's one thing to see something like that on TV or from afar. But
when you're in the water with it one glance at the way it moves
and you know it can have you anytime it wants.

Swimming (diving in a cage or ...) or in a boat?

I've got pictures of that kind of shark, closer than I wanted to see.
Couldn't get the whole shark in the viewfinder ;)

Most species are small.
I've found nursey areas in both San Francisco and Drakes bay.

What species, Eugene? Are the Great Whites back in The Bay in
strength these days? The population around that part of the coast
seemed to be rebounding like crazy when I left CA in the late '80's.
The things they eat (sea mammals) were also rebounding.

I got to see eight humpback whales feeding in Kachemak Bay in
Sept. There must have been herring or something in the bay --
those whales hung out for about a week and could be seen
feeding between Land's End and Yukon Island, ranging down to
Seldovia, every evening. Thrilling!
