This is a silly comment.
Just shut the electricity off. You really dont need it. Get a few
led flashlights, a laptop computer that runs off a 12v car battery,
and a transistor radio with crank generator. What more do you need?
Once upon a time, growing electrical consumption was associated with a
higher standard of living.
During the great Rural Electrication drive in the USA during the
1930's, the farmers and other rural residents appreciated being
connected to the grid and not having to use oil lamps on the way to
the outhouse when it was 20 below outside.
Ask the people on the Washington and Oregon Coasts, who are still
without electricity from last Sunday's storm, how much they like it.
I would feel comfortable saying those people who are now
without electric service are very very unhappy. addictions
create painful withdrawal.
Incidently, electricity made indoor plumbing and practical home water
systems possible with a an electric well pump replacing that hand pump
in the kitchen.
It is amusing that some people today think that being off-grid is
infinitely better than being on the grid, especially if service is
readily available. They apparently have been brainwashed into
thinking a simple, minimal energy consuming lifestyle will improve
their lives and save the planet.
speaking of 'brainwashed', without electricity there'd be no TV!
without TV there would be lots of dirty brains. controlling
people by locking them into the grid so they can be influenced
without the necessity of beatings has actually done much to
increase productivity whereby enhancing the wealth of those
doing the brainwashing.
One of the reason cities exist in the first place is that vital
services, gas, electric, telephone, cable tv (some people consider
that vital), roads, sewerage, water, etc. can be served in bulk and at
lower cost (through private charges or tax assessments) instead of
having everyone build their own generator, water well, or sewage
septic system.
The sad part is that many electric companies (electricity is a vital
service), are private vs. public. These battles occured during the
1930's and, except for a few fortunate parts of the county, private
industry won.
in North Carolina the government wanted more government so
they invented the Public Utilities Commission. when the
privately held utility wants a rate increase they must submit
application and partition before the Public Utilities Commission
before being able to implement any rate adjustments. the
government shines their electrically powered spotlight on
themselves and uses their electrically powered public announcement
system to tell us the public what a wonderful thing they are doing
by holding the privately held electric companies in check. for
this service the city people sing hymns of praise to their
government while hugging their streetlights. the entire manipulation
is nothing more than a means to steal tax paying modules from the
northeast sector known as the rust belt where the cost of living is
extremely and ridiculously high. oh well, ongoing battles occurring
and reoccurring so the masses can be kept in check by the few who hold
the 'power' over them to do so.
