Jan,

I might be mistaken but I seem to remember a year, or maybe more, back
that you either had a problem with a dog or offered advice to someone that
did. If not, please excuse the question.

I have a Rottweiller that's about 8 years old. It was husky and very
healthy one day and then the next day it was kinda like a drunk sailor
stumbling all over the place. It had a small somewhat circular bald spont
just over its left eye and a quite large bald spot on its right hindquarter.
We treated both for ringworms and they have pretty much gone away.

But she kept stumbling for almost a month and we assumed hip displacia
and started giving her crushed up "joint" pills. Also, we are right in the
middle of rice country and mosquitos are everywhere all the time. But we
have always given a dose of ivomectin once a month and also we keep that
advantage or whatever on her and never see any flies or mosquitos or fleas
on her. So we don't think it is heart worms.

We also have an overabundance of copper heads and water moccasins. I
think she got in an argument with one and it popped her on the eye but
really got her good on the hindquarter. Right from the start her eyes were
matted up with what looked like pus and that lasted for about two weeks and
then, as we would wash them off every day, it finally started to get better.
She seems to be pretty close to her old self now except that her eyes still
matt up and seem to have pus around them every day.

We can't take her to a vet because, first the nearest one is quite a
long way off and they do NOT see Rottweillers, Dobermans, Chows etc. Do you
have any idea why her eyes would be matted up like they are? I've done the
google bit and pretty much ruled out everything I've found.

Tks
