Good move, but just remember that you're treating symptoms, not the root cause.
The root cause is that the float valve inside the carburetor has stuck in the
open position and will allow gas to drain through the carb, past the rings of
the piston, and into the oil.
If this is the only trouble with the carb, you can usually just remove the float
bowl and clean this valve without having to remove or further disassemble the
carb.
