I guess this is the newsgroup to ask this.
I am looking for a small used skidloader for cleaning horse stalls
and other use around the farm. I cant afford a new one, and it
seems all the new ones are huge anyhow. I want something small and
affordable. From what I keep seeing at auctions and such are these
CASE 1816 models, and several different GEHL models that are smaller
in size. I heard that BOBCAT is a good quality brand, but they are
very pricey and I have never seen any smaller ones. I'd think that
JOHN DEERE would also be a decent brand, but all of them I see are
huge. The only other smaller ones I have seen are a brand called
MUSTANG. I dont think they make any other farm equipment. The ones
I see the most are the CASE, and I know they make a lot of earth
moving equipment. I did try a GEHL at an implement dealer, which
was 35 years old and the thing ran like crap, and they guy wanted
way too much for it. Of course I wont base my judgement of that
brand on one machine that looked like it was abused and obviously
old. Anyone have any favorite brands that are durable and well made?
All comments and suggestions appreciated.
Like I said, I need something small that can get into stalls.

Some of the older models of skid loaders used the V4
Wisconsin engine. It might be a problem getting parts for the
engines. The place I work used to sell Case equipment. The
Case skid loaders were pretty handy with the two handle controls for
everything.
One hand ran the up-down for the bucket. The other ran the tilt. I
guess the Bobcat could be a bit of a problem if one got it to
bouncing. Your feet bouncing on the pedals could make it worse.

still makes the same engine today. My main complaint is the aircooled
wisconsin is noisy, other than that i have had no real problems.
