several months ago a grass fire spread out of control in
raleigh and before it was all over 30 plus town homes were
destroyed by that fire. it was a sad situation with many
of the occupants being 'newcomers' and having no local
family to provide any means of support. the Red Cross was
on the scene the very next morning with all sorts of help
for those 'newcomers' who had just lost everything. the
Red Cross is good like that.
town homes are like apartments in that they are connected
with as many as 8 units pre building and with the zoning
allowing for very close proximity of the buildings to one
another the fires spread quickly from one building to the
next.
earlier this week a house in rolesville caught fire and since
zoning had allowed the houses to be located only 10 feet a part
from one another the fire spread quickly from one house to the
next. I did not catch the total number of houses destroyed by
that tragedy but from the pictures on the evening news it
appeared as if over half the neighborhood was burned.
when people are crammed in all over top of one another by some
greedy developer doing the [golf-guy thingie] with those who
write the zoning ordinances a momentous tragic event is created
with an eventual outcome producing an extreme misfortune for those
people stuck living crammed jammed next to one another.
city people seem to enjoy living crammed jammed next to one
another or maybe it's just all they have ever known. maybe
city people would be terrified or aghast with an extreme
uneasiness by the possibility of a contingency arising and
then there being no one around to rescue them if they lived
in a rural environment.
oh well, enough about that since it's time to go and chase
the deer out of the soybeans 'again'.
