In my parts there's no such thing as a desirable cat. Got no pest birds
and
no problems with things cats prey upon. If you could get a cat to eat a
groundhog or a rabbit, I might consider them useful.
Heh, our cat brings home rabbits all the time, sometimes at a rate of 1 a
night
when he's discovered a new colony. Some times they're his own size, too.
So does the feral one which we have living in our hay shed. He (or perhaps
she) also cleared out a very active and large warren on our creekflats
before it moved into the hay shed. I weouldnt' imagine that feral cats int
he US would be any different to those in either of our countries so I dunno
what the OP means about cats not eating rabbits. Even my tiny little female
domestic moggie used to catch rabbits before she went blind and got too old
to go outside.
He's
also brought in a few eels, and a pheasant. Unfortunately he draws the
line at
rats, he leaves those for me to deal with mostly.
You need some Jack Russells.
John proves his boundless ignorance and lack of reading comprehension yet
again
with his comments ... the introduced possums had virtually killed off
several
tree species in the national park next to us until the government decided
to
spend some dollars and started dropping 1080 poison bait out of
helicopters.
I keep looking at possum fur for spinning but it is far too expensive to buy
here. A good way to use up your problem animals.
