The only people that might happen to are those whose property is currently
way under-assessed compared to similar properties. That is, the people who
had been paying less than their fair share prior to the reassessment.
As much as it grates on me to agree with jimmee on this or any point, he is somewhat correct. I'm acquainted with some folks in E. Tenn who watched their property taxes skyrocket as outsiders moved in willing to pay obscene sums for adjacent remote mountain properties. Land that had been in the same family for generations was suddenly too expensive, tax wise, for the current owners of modest means, to pay.
