But, hey, it's just a cartoon!

True and one I've never managed to get into. Now "American Dad" is
one I do like.

I haven't seen "American Dad."

The Simpsons is (IMO and many others) one of the best shows on TV. Many of
the writers were educated at our top universities. There are all kinds of
historical and cultural references which just go over the heads of kids and
relatively un-educated adults.

But it's definitely an "equal opportunity" offender. The show doesn't take
prisoners!
