The neighbor's Buff Orpingtons tend to hole up when it gets
down to 20 below. I doubt a bit of frost is going to give
most chickens any trouble. They'd be in their coop at night

it's -38 (F) with windchill today. i left the chickens shut
inside :) the cold wouldn't stop them from going out foraging
if the door was open... but the 7" of snow slows them down.

Those dumb birds sure are great entertainment. Ever see a
couple of fuzz balls square off like fighting cocks?

what is even more amusing than the Orps is the Silkie
roosters. they never seem to hurt each other fortunately, but
they are funny to watch. none of the little roosters (2 Silkie
& the bantam) ever go after the Speckled Sussex though...
