what kind of birds do you raise on
your farm?
Right now, just a very few guinea and
quail. Not for sell now;but for home
use.

African chickens are what we call
guineas around here. they will eat every
tick they find and that's a good thing.
hell on grasshoppers too.
---
Years long summer infestations of grasshoppers is the main reason why I
got mine. And my few have wiped out most of the grasshoppers close
around me. Saw very few in the yard and around last year. Mostly had to
go around a 100 yards out to find several close together. Also and until
proven wrong, :-) I will also say guineas can do a great job at getting
rid of a lot of fire ants. I can't prove all I want on this;but years
ago I had guineas, heard they would eat fire ants,so I started putting
whole milo and or hen scratch on fire ant nests in my yard. Noted the
nest would be gone or severely depleted in a couple of days. Then last
year/fall I noted that there were only a few fire ant nests in my yard
and they obviously had very few ants in them. So I figure it's an either
or thing on this. The guineas got them, the flies they've been putting
out in Texas to control fight fire ants got here or both. I'm hoping it
was just the guineas doing the fire ant cleanup. Then later, when we get
those anti-fire ant flies here,it would be just that much sweeter! :-)
Said by Ronny, who dearly detests each and every fire ant he's ever run
upon! :-) LoL
