It's easy to tell, whether a rat or a mouse got into a truck/car, by the
size of their poop.
Rats obviously leave much bigger poop behind, than mice.
Btw, I put some "Irish Spring" soap bars in to my trucks' engine compartment
the last few days, but the rats ignored it.
I seem to get the best results from placing those big back-breaking rat
traps into the engine compartment.
Of course I had to leave the hood open, so that the traps had enough room to
actually work.
A good location is right on top of the air filter housing and also under the
truck itself.
I have been able to trap 2 - 3 rats every night as of lately.
I also had problems with rats getting into my jacuzzi. Unfortunately there
is no room to put a big rat trap into the area, where the motor/pump and
wires are.
So I put the rat traps under the slightly elevated jacuzzi, which did catch
a couple of rats.
However, yesterday a beautiful big bird must have picked on the peanut
butter of the rat trap and got its beak snapped, what an awful sight that
was.
I felt real sorry for that innocent bird.
I was somehow relieved, that it was dead by the time I found it, since I
would not have known, what to do with the bird still being alive and being
severely insured.
The trap under the jacuzzi also killed a chipmunk, that must have gotten
attracted by the smell of the peanut butter.
Now I got to figure out what to do next with regards to setting a rat trap
under the jacuzzi.
I certainly don't want to have another bird or chipmunk suffer the same
fate.
I tell you, there is never a dull moment in a rural setting.
