Propane hot water heater here and two propane space heaters. Was $1.95

Have an electric cookstove here and microwave for cooking. Can remember
2 electric cookstoves we've had;but cooked on a propane stove for
years. Really liked those better. Faster heat control.

Really like propane space heaters when the electricity goes
off-especially in the winter! Can use the one in the bathroom then for
heating water, coffee, soup, etc. Sounds strange; :-) but very nice and
handy when the lights go out and you want something hot to eat or
drink!

Bear in mind that modern gas stoves have pilotless ovens requiring
electricity to make them work. I think that for a few hours a
12v car battery and an inverter of several hundred watts should
be enough to get the oven working.

As I live in a snow belt I take all the batteries out of equipment I won't be using over the winter to the basement and charge them before storage so having that sort of backup power isn't a problem here. I managed to catch a 700 watt inverter on sale a while back.

With a little searching one can find a gas stove with pilot lights.
Having electric ignitors in a rural area makes little sense. If you don't like buring the gas for the pilots just shut them off and light the stove with matches or a welder's "scratcher".
