I believe that the fuel is getting to the carb. That's difficult to verify though. The way Generac has placed the fuel tank over the engine obstructs viewing things. I'm in the process of removing the fuel tank now so I can get at the engine itself.
I'd gladly hire someone to get this running, but I'm in a really remote location and the nearest engine repair guy is over 100 miles away.
It may be less expensive to trash this unit and buy another. If I get to that point you can bet I won't spend money on Generac again. Honda may look good. I try to buy American, but I'm beginning to think that my country has lost it's edge.

My Generac 4000XL has stopped running. It has 50 hours on it. The engine (Generac's model 220) will start if I spray a bit of starting fluid around the air cleaner but then it stops running after about 30 sec to a minute (no load applied).
Tank has new gas in it.
I've taken the carburetor off and cleaned it by removing the plastic parts, spraying the remainder of the carburetor with carburetor cleaner and then blowing it out with compressed air. The are no adjustments on the carb other than idle speed and that seems to be ok during the short time it runs.
I've checked compression and see close to 90 psi (manual calls for at least 60 psi). The low oil pressure cut-off doesn't seem to be the problem because the oil pressure switch opens during the short time the engine is running.
I'm out of ideas. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated...winter's coming.

It pretty much has to be fuel supply. The fact it will run for 30 sec indicates all the other systems are working. How does the fuel get from the tank to the carb? If there is a fuel line, have you checked it for kinks or obstructions? Is there a fuel filter in the line (maybe there should be)? I just hope you are better with carbs than me, otherwise you'll need to hire someone to repair the damage you've inflicted.
