Fuel delivery has been covered - the only other things I can think of
are
-choke: I've had electric/bimetal chokes either open too soon or not at
all which would lead to problems like you describe.
-plug: you can get a plug with a hairline crack that shorts out when it
warms up.
- governor: make sure it's not gummed up and that the spring is not bent
or obstructed.
On carb cleaning: a mechanic once told me not to blow them with
compressed air from the outside because you can actually blow dirt
_into_ the little holes and clog them *really well*.
