What state do you live in, Ken? I've got a '71 Sonett III (V-4 engine) that might be available. It's "Sonett", by the way.
I live in Michigan, between Grand Rapids and Lansing. What are they going for these days?
No clue. It drove fine when I parked it, but I keep not getting it back out, summer after summer. I should assess it and see how it's doing before I make any decisions, though.
Where do *you* live, Dave?
Wisconsin, about half-way between Milwaukee and Madison. 30 acres, some of which I've never been to. 5000+ trees, 7 acres of wildflowers, and some mature forest. Lovely spot, great view. Can't wait to put up a wind turbine.
Yeah, that's right, I knew that. Forgot. Brain fart.
I've always liked the looks of the Sonett. Test-drove a used one about 22 years ago and *loved* it; passed on that particular one, though, due to a bum
transmission, and never came across another. And after the kids were born, two-seat sports cars started to look spectacularly impractical anyway. But #1
Son will be out of the house next summer, though, and it may be time to look for a little itty bitty car again soon. And SWMBO still misses her
Corvette...
Well, it's an entirely different critter than a Corvette, but let me pick the roads, and the weather, and I'll outrun one no problem. Fun little beasties, they are.
Indeed. Another fun little beastie is the Fiat X-1/9. Drove one of those guys for about three years... *lots* of fun to drive, and cornered like it was on rails. Not much power, but it weighed only about 1900 lbs, so it didn't need much. And the Fiat engineers did pretty well to squeeze 81 hp out of a 79-cubic-inch engine (if I remember the numbers right). Reliability is a big problem with those cars, though...
Q: What does F.I.A.T. stand for? A: Fix it again today; fix it again tomorrow...
