The cost of wars and taxing the rich. To listen to the left, you'd
think that we could solve obama's $1.5 t-t-t-trillion deficits with a
little more peace and Fairness.
But, when one engages one's brain, it's just as easy to see the folly
of these mantras as any liberal *ideas*.
This year, we will spend a little less than $700 billion on the
military, including the cost of the wars.
End Bush's tax cuts for the filthy, putrid rich? Hmmm, the CBO
estimates that that will save $80 billion ($800 billion over 10 years
- about the cost to pay off the unions... I mean, keep unemployment
below 8%).
So, cut the military COMPLETELY and take away the Bush tax cuts for
the selfish rich, and what do we have? Hmmm, not even 1/2 of an obama
deficit.
Then consider that the federal government paid out $2,300,000,000,000
to households (SS, food stamps, housing subsidies, etc) in 2010.
SS taxes pay for themselves! At least up to 2047!
If by paying for themselves you mean that taxes collected today pay
for benefits today, you're partially correct. But then, there's a few
pesky facts (just like the *TAX THE RICH* mantra you're so fond of
parroting).
"Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reports that Social Security will
effectively run a $45-billion deficit in 2011 and continue to run
deficits totaling $547 billion over the coming decade."
Yeppers, if you're told that it pays for itself, then you need to
abandon all reason and logic and run about repeating that it pays for
itself.
.
The
Federal government took in **only** $2,200,000,000,000.
So, they're redistributing even more that they're taking in. And we
haven't even touched a road, an Air Traffic Controller's salary and
nap package, or cash for an artist making things out of Mason jars and
Crayolas, much less the more trivial things like a military or other
national security funding.
The small thinking that is the left ain't gonna be able to deal with
this in any meaningful way.
