Re: Healthcare Estimates - What a record!

Congress is not good at estimating costs of their legislation. In
fact, they're terrible at it.

They're telling us that obamacare will *only* cost anywhere from $800
billion (just a few months ago, that seemed like a lot of money) to $2
trillion over 10 years.

Here's a look at how Congress has done estimating the costs of a few
other little programs.

Medicare Part A - Congress said it would cost $9 billion a year by
1990, It ended up costing $67 billion a year Nearly 7.5 times the
estimate.

Entire Medicare Program Congress said it would cost $12 billion a year
by 1990 It cost $110 billion a year. Over 9 times as much as the
estimate.

Medicare relief to states for hospitals Estimate - $1 billion a year
in 1992 Actual -$17 billion a year. 17 times the estimate.

So, let's assume that the actual *estimate* for obamacare is a cool $1
trillion. It could be as little as $7.5 trillion or as much as $17
trillion.

I realize in the age of obama, these numbers don't seem that bad. For
those of you playing along at home with the obama deficits/spending,
you may want to check this out...

But, consider who is going to be paying for obamacare. For the most
part, it's the same people who provide jobs.

Then, consider what they are already facing from this tax and spend
president and tax and spend congress...

Real and proposed tax increases facing folks:

* Eliminating the Bush tax cuts ... +5%
* Pelosi healthcare tax ... +5.4%
* Eliminating the earnings cap for Social Security taxes ... +?%
* Surtax to pay for the war in Afghanistan ... +?%
* Tax on high-value health insurance policies ... +?%

And some people wonder why the administration has to lie about the
number of jobs *saved or created*? Some people wonder why business
people are "sitting on the sidelines" (as obama stated).

This administration is making things worse. Much worse. And
apparently, they don't care. In fact, it's appearing that they are
intentionally making things worse as even the dullest among us can see
what these policies are going to render. Perhaps it's in order to
garner support for gummit healthcare?

What a hangover this country is having from electing a Community
Organizer as President.

The usual, a series of republican lies.
