This happen 200 feet from where I live. Gunman caught after second holdup at Rebel

Pahrump resident Vincent Matthew Czechorosky, 24, suspected of
committing two convenience store robberies, was arrested early
Wednesday morning after leading Nye County Sheriff's deputies on an
extensive car chase that ended up in the playground parking area at
Honeysuckle Park.

According to Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Suzanne
Pardee, Czechorosky has been a corrections officer at High Desert
Springs Prison since October 2007. He was fired Wednesday, after the
NDOC was notified of his arrest.

Both robberies took place at the Rebel gas station at 820 S. Highway
160, next to Walgreen's Drug Store.

The clerks on duty reported a male, dressed in black, pointed a gun at
them and demanded money. In both instances, after taking the money,
the robber fled on foot.

The first robbery occurred at 1:24 a.m. Sept. 21. Wednesday's robbery
took place at 12:26 a.m.

Deputies responded to the scene and began looking for the suspect.
They were in the vicinity of Dandelion Street and Firebird Circle when
they saw a vehicle sitting at the intersection of Dandelion and
Honeysuckle streets with no lights on. When they attempted to initiate
a traffic stop, the car took off, with the deputies following.

Czechorosky finally pulled into the playground parking area at
Honeysuckle Park. According to a press release from the sheriff's
office, "NCSO deputies attempted to gain compliance from the suspect."

Instead, Czechorosky accelerated toward the deputies, who fired two
shots at the vehicle, stopping it before it hit them.

Czechorosky exited the car and took off on foot, running north of the
park with the deputies in pursuit.

K-9 Dep. Tommy helped track Czechorosky and apprehended him, holding
him until pursuing deputies arrived and took Czechorosky into custody.
The gun, clothing and money from the robbery were reportedly recovered
at the scene as evidence.

The sheriff's press release said subsequent investigation identified
Czechorosky as the same person who committed the previous robbery at
the same place.

Czechorosky is being held without bail on 12 charges: one count of
attempted murder on a peace officer, two counts of burglary, two
counts of grand larceny, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon,
two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and failure to stop on
signal of a peace officer.
