Yep, the public sure got those folks in DC pegged correctly, imo.
The real problem here is lack of understanding of the overall problem
on the part of the public, certainly by a majority of Congress,
perhaps by Obama and his advisors... although Obama and his advisors
may be working toward the solution to the overall problem without
pointing out what it is.
Oh, I think the majority of the "public" have a real good understanding of the "overall problem"; the overall problem being the government sticking its nose into issues it doesn't belong in, and making things worse.
1. If the homeowner got a mortgage they have no business getting, are over their heads, or are in too much personal debt; let'm go bankrupt and have their house foreclosed under the law, and assets seized.
2. If the banks, credit card companies, mortgage lenders, et al are in trouble cuz they wrote mortgages they had no business writing, let'm go under and the FDIC will take'm over under the law. and sell them to someone who can run them properly.
3. If any State or Corporation is in trouble, and is threatening to go under for any reason (bad labor contracts, poor managements decisions, government mandates), let them all go under.
It's John Q. Public's job to take responsibility for their life decisions and the results thereof; ignorance is no excuse and 'no one promised them a rose garden'.
It's the Judicial branch of governments' job to take responsibility for prosecuting the crooks stealing from banks, homeowners, investors; put them in jail, and confiscate their assets.
The US Constitution says we all are only entitled to the "pursuit of happiness"; there are no guarantees of ever achieving any. Life's a bitch, and then you die.
