WASHINGTON - A Democratic senator on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee inadvertently
explained why her colleagues have no intention of ending the moratorium on offshore oil drilling or
increasing the areas open for exploration and production - no matter how popular the idea might be
with gas prices soaring.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV's "Money and Politics" last night, Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.,
explained Democrats don't want to increase supplies of oil and gasoline because they want to wean
Americans off of petroleum products.
Which high prices have been doing admirably. And she's right for another reason: by the time a new oil field comes on line in 10-12 years, half the cars in the US could be electric. Pro-drill-everywhere people talk as though prices will drop as soon as approval is given to drill exploratory wells someplace.

No we don't

What we say, is that if we DON'T develop local resources, in five years it's going to be a whole lot worse than it is right now.
We'd still have 5-7 years before anything appeared at the pump, By that time half of America's cars could be electric, if we resolved to give up our oil dependency.

What about the other half as well as commercial and military aircraft? You must think aircraft will have battery operated engines in 5 - 7 years. LOL ......

You're straw man-ing again. No one mentioned aircraft, which are not good candidates for electric conversion. Try to watch that, it's a sign of a sloppy argument. With half the passenger cars in the US running on electricity (preferentially nuke generated), the US no longer has an oil dependency problem, does it?

Oh, Geeze .... aircraft are not good candidates for electric conversion. No ***.

But you think in 5 to 7 years we may have (or hope to have) nuke generated cars, eh. Good grief, how in hell have you been able to survive the problems of life.
