This is a propaganda film pure and simple. It has the elements of
truth, but not the substance.
It has pictures of real events. What else is needed? Do you
want an explanation of the motivations of the killers? Would that make
the film more palatable to you?
So, you bought it all? What is your answer, genocide?
You didn't answer my questions, yet asked two of your own. Why
did you do that, Dave?
I attempted to try to make you think just a little bit, instead of
throwing around the emotional rhetoric which goes nowhere.
Examine that movie, and tell me that you really believe it is
representative of all people of the Muslim faith, or about all people
from the Middle East, for that matter.
As I offered to Ernie, the story of the marine throwing the puppy
off the cliff in Iraq is representative of the US military to some
people, but they are wrong too. One should look at the rest of the
story.
The Germans thought the Jews were cheating them because they were
making money, but more importantly, because they weren't German. The
Reich's emotional rhetoric whipped up an attempt at genocide in
Germany. I'd rather not be a part of that here.
In the case of the middle East, the real problem are the leaders of
the countries that sponsor these people. They are very rich, but the
people believing these things are often desperately poor. The leaders
sell us their oil, take the money, and tell their own people that the
reason they are in the situation they are in is because the infidel is
cheating them. Consider that part of the rest of the story. We
invaded one of the few countries that was secular, and replaced a
brutal order with Chaos. We abandoned the Shah, and got Khomeini, and
now Abedinijahd ababba, whatever...
I spent 4 years overseas living in foreign countries. One of the
things I learned is that one cannot apply US rationale to everything
if one expects some level of success living there.
