Damn, damn, damn.

If the world spent the money it spends on war on finding cures
for cancer, the world would be a far better place. No one will
convince me that it couldn't be cured & prevented ... it's just a
question of paying for the research!

Good luck, charles. I'll be cheering you on, albeit only on
usenet. ;)

Its amazing the stuff they're coming up with, tho. It just takes time.

Did you see 60 minutes last month, when they documeted the new, experimental
treatment for cancer? It hasn't gone to clinical trials yet, but that should
happen in about 3 years. The stuff they've been doing in the lab, tho, is
fantastic.

They attach an antigen to nanoparticles, either carbon or gold, and inject them
into a person. The antigen is tailored to seek out individual cancer cells.
After an appropriate time for the antigens to attach to the cancer cells, they
have the subject get into a 13.56 Mhz electromagnetic, "radio" field - high
powered - which heats up the nanoparticles. Since the nanoparticles are
attached to the cancer cells, they heat the cancer cells and "cook" them to
death.

The procedure has absolutely no side effects for the subject - so far - when
they test it on real people, they'll know more.

Looks to me like a "cure" for every form of cancer that they can come up with
an antigen for. There's 3 sets of antigens so far, prostate, bone, and
something else - breast? Not sure. Maybe if they can keep Sen. Kennedy
alive... maybe if they can keep Patrick Swayze alive... hey, we have to stop
losing such fine people, including charles.
