As I'm sure you're aware, many other movements in history with central
direction from aligned propaganda mills and a hearty disregard for others
have become all but nonsensical. All it took was enough people putting up
with or ignoring their initial nonsense.

....I can see the necon fringe becoming like the neonazis. Their

We are already in two artificial wars over the latest incarnation -
Afghanistan, against foes first supplied by the right wing, and Iraq, again
against foes first supplied by the right wing. This is treated as bad luck,
rather than as gainful for the right wing.

....it was a bit of a surprise when Bush decided to go into
Afghanistan, considering the total mess the Soviets had experienced.
But I applauded the idea that we were (or so I/we were led to believe)
doing something positive about bin Laden and his band of freaks. But
then he started the bullshit about Iraq and things have been downhill
ever since. This insane drive to be at war on a constant basis is what
will sink the conservatives...we have plenty of power and resources to
defend ourselves and our way of life. We don't need to jam this down
the throats of smaller nations that don't want our way of life.
