I don't know, CG. That entire paragraph gives me a queasy feeling in
my stomach. It's indicative of how low our standards have fallen since
this administration came to power. They'll never prove it (even if he
did it). Lies are inconsequential. Outing an undercover CIA agent
isn't treason, it's just "political maneuvering". And let's not forget
the big stinking lie that started the whole sordid affair -- the
yellowcake uranium lie. It all makes me feel very sad for my country.
If Rep. Kucinich had a smoking gun, impeachment would proceed with
great alacrity. The Senate trial would be over in a relative heart
beat. That is, if either was needed at all.
There was a smoking gun for Nixon and the impeachment vote was never
taken.
And how did they get that smoking gun tape? Congress held *hearings*
on the Watergate affair, found out there were tapes, and got a special
counsel appointed to subpoena those tapes. They didn't sit around
saying golly gee, we don't have any evidence.
I'll wait and see what happens to Sec. Gonzales though I strongly
doubt he will ever see the inside of a court room for the sort of
perjury you are referencing.
Probably not, now that we have an Attorney General who can't even say
that waterboarding is torture.
Ad hominem remarks may make you feel better but they certainly don't
help your case except with others all ready in your choir. Not a
problem, I see it all too frequently, just a observation.
Again, I don't consider statements of fact to be ad hominem remarks,
but you can call them whatever you like. And they certainly don't make
me feel any better about the direction our nation has taken.
