I thought about it, but their fighting against controls on psychopaths
is
just too creepy.

...good example.

...but it is a true explanation. We don't have the need for a militia
anymore

Sure we do. And a militia that is not the current National Guard. In
fact, we need to be able to generate a militia that can take on the Guard
and the Regulars, if needed to defend the Constitution. And they need to
know that if it comes down to it, we can. AFAIK the freedom of no nation
that could not beat its own armies has remained secure.

...we're not an agrarian nation anymore. We've gone way beyond the
point where the populace could actually revolt in any meaningful way
with the arms available. What those arms do is get into the wrong
hands constantly and get used against law abiding citizens. I have no
problem with owning a weapon or two for self defense...but how many is
enough? And what kind should be available?

and to consider the bulk of gun owners "well regulated" is a
sick joke.

I get your point here but you have it backward. You can't generate a
well-regulated militia from your populace when needed, if they are
unarmed.

...it wouldn't happen armed either. You're telling yourself fairy
tales if you believe it could actually happen.

In any case there seems to be plenty of precedent from the revolutionary
and civil wars to validate this view of what the Founding Fathers intended
the general populace to be capable of handling.

...the founding fathers never foresaw the kind of armament that people
can get their hands on now. They did a damn good job of foreseeing a
lot of things...but not on guns.

...agree to disagree. Not on letting the wingnutz have explosives, but
on the idea of securing that sort of ordinance by any American. No
need, no reason and they get used for bad deeds far too often to make
them feasible for common ownership.

This part is what I refer to as a judgement call. As far as I am
concerned, the whole rest of the world can go to hell in a handbasket and
it
still won't mean that *I* shouldn't own a gun. Somewhat the opposite, I
should think. =)

...I agree, partially. But I don't think just anyone should be able to
own any kind of weapon they want.
It's the same retards who claim that income tax is unconstitutional who
think that it also guarantees the right to own a bazooka.

These people are not without virtue. I recall clyde brooks and et benson.
I knew clyde's grandkids and e.t.'s as well. Jägermeister's too. We shared
at a phone at the Y. Anyways, Benson's are whence comes Schwester Hügel.
They were John Birchers. You'll be hard-pressed to find anything in that
crowd that would tally as a constitutional mind.

Clyde and his wife, marie, were on public tele, bgsu, showing their karate
training. He used "ooch" instead of e.l.lo.i.it.

I was always more kung fu than karate, but what do you do as kid brother to
toille.

I was always interested in the maurer. Schweezerin.
