Yes, just as the misperception the Left has been fostering for years, namely,
if you disagree in the slightest with Liberal Dogma, you are a
Bible thumping, Jesusland bigot who is puzzled by the complexity of
tic-tac-toe. That's crap, too.
I agree, even though you have written quite an accurate description of
George W. Bush there.
I disagree. I think you misunderestimate the man. Idiots don't get to be
President (although Carter is the exception that proves the rule).
Let's face it, Fred. When your figurehead
projects that image it's hard not to take the opportunity to embarrass
his supporters with it. But I think the Left was under no illusions
when it came to the realization that Bush was backed up by a well-
oiled, ruthless political machine who were by no means a bunch of
dummies.
Yes, and Mr. Bush was the head of that machine. I think he plays the
good-old-boy part so that opponents misunderestimate him, then he takes their
heads off. He's not stupid. The man was a fighter pilot, and he built and
ran a potent political machine. He would have been removed by a rival had he
not been smart and ruthless.
Anybody who thinks that Bush is really running things is
fooling themselves.
No, anyone who thinks he is a figurehead is fooling themselves.
The bible thumper image was all just show
business, aimed at one of the demographic groups required to get them
in office.
I tend to agree, although I am not completely cynical about Mr. Bush's
personal religious beliefs. But yes, I am certain that the political machine
used whatever means necessary to woo the appropriate demographic groups.

wellUnlike deductive logic, inductive logic does not inevitably lead to identical
conclusions for rational people. It is quite possible to be intelligent,
informed, and reach conclusions that differ dramatically from other
intelligent, well informed rational thinkers.
And when one's conclusions turn out to be wrong in practice, over and
over again, *sane* people usually modify those conclusions.
Yes, precisely. So tell me, why are you on the leftish side? 8^)
Look at the opinion polls people! They are the extremists, not us!
I no longer really trust polls. Lots of people in my camp are telling the
pollsters no thanks when they call.
What camp is that Fred? Conservatives, or people employed by the "Dark
Lord"? ;)
My camp has those who prize individual liberties over the State (the
traditional Liberal). I'm not that much a social conservative and I'm
certainly not a socialist.
theBut hey, I have to agree with the polls that has Congressional approval of
war effort down in the single digits.
Which is it Fred? Do you agree with the polls or not? There's that
doublethink again!
I distrust the polls. But, I think the perception that the current Congress
is abysmally incompetent and corrupt is accurate. As we say in the South,
even a blind hog finds a truffle every now and then. And I think the current
trend for the Federal government to be run by corrupt, arrogant, and small
minded prigs of all strips is a Really Bad Thing for the US long term.
Our current Congressional leadership,
on both sides BTW, is a lower quality that I've ever seen, with corruption
rampant.
Again we find agreement. Nothing would please me more than to see
every single incumbent of both parties voted out of office and
replaced with someone new.
Hear, hear!
And if they turn out to be another
spineless bunch of rubber-stamp enablers for some wannabe tyrants who
undermine the Constitution and rule by executive order, then Thomas
Jefferson left us with instructions in the preamble to the Declaration
Of Independence as to what our duty is when the government stops
deriving it's powers from the consent of the governed.
Hear, hear!
