Column: I told you so: Bush's damage staggering
Dave Zweifel 7/18/2007
When George W. Bush was surprisingly re-elected president in November
2004, I
predicted that in a couple of years -- just like after the re-election of
Richard Nixon -- you'd have problems finding people who would admit
having
voted for him.
It's unfortunate, but that is in fact the case in 2007 as even longtime
Republicans are counting the days left until this administration is
history.
Indeed, there are many Republicans joining the growing chorus that wants
to
impeach Bush and *** Cheney and get rid of these two guys now before
they do
even more damage to this great country of ours.
Frankly, it's remarkable how total the damage has been. The lies to get
us
into a war with Iraq and then the incompetence in handling it were bad
enough.
But the war is just a piece of the utter devastation that this
administration
has caused in everything from the administration of justice to the
stewardship
of our national parks, from the reputation of the Food and Drug
Administration
to the nation's ability to respond to emergencies.
If shortsighted ideology didn't get in the way of working for the common
good,
incompetent cronies did.
Instead of putting experienced foreign affairs people in jobs to handle
the
Iraqi transition from Saddam Hussein to some form of democracy, the
administration filled those jobs with inexperienced, mostly young people,
whose only qualification was that they were doctrinaire Republicans. It
was
the same sort of nonsense that prevailed at Homeland Security, where the
completely unqualifed Michael "you're doing a heckuva job" Brown turned
FEMA
into a national laughingstock.
Now comes the news that even the surgeon general's office -- a federal
agency
whose sole purpose is to promote the public's health -- was manipulated
by the
Bush team.
Former Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona testified before a
congressional
committee recently that the administration repeatedly tried to weaken or
suppress important public health reports because of political
considerations.
According to a New York Times story, Dr. Carmona told the committee that
he
wasn't allowed to speak or issue reports about stem cells, emergency
contraception, sex education or prison, mental health and global health
issues. Whenever he gave a speech, he was instructed to make sure Bush's
name
was mentioned at least three times on every page.
Plus, he was discouraged from attending the Special Olympics because of
the
charitable organization's long ties to a "prominent family." He wouldn't
give
the name on the record, but he was obviously referring to the Kennedys,
who
have long been associated with the Olympic events for the disabled.
Bill Clinton may have had some personal defects, all of which led to his
being
impeached by a partisan House of Representatives. Like Alex Rodriguez of
baseball fame, he may cheat on his wife, but he hit home runs when they
mattered.
The Bush crowd is straight out of the gang that couldn't shoot straight.
If lying about sex gets you impeached, what do we do with an
administration
whose lies have led to a world calamity and whose ideology trumps even
common
sense? The answer couldn't be more clear.

Reagan says:
Surprisingly re-elected? According to whom? Look at the option America
was
faced with: John Kerry. The most liberal voting Senator currently in
office.
Americans don't want, or need, extremism such as that. The economy was
(and
still is) roaring, unemployment was low, people were safe....the choice
for
the populace was clear, despite a valiant try by the left wing media,
which
easily delivered 15 points to Kerry. Just curious, Zweifel, did you
actually
find anyone to admit they voted for John Kerry in your 'highly
scientific'
poll?
Stock market at 13,700, unemployment in the 4's, low interest rates,
record
home ownership, record wealth, no terrorist attacks on our soil since
9/11...yeah, what a shambles President Bush has made of our country.
The reasons some Republicans may be critical of this President have
little to
do with the war. Like me, they are more likely to be upset about the
inability
to privatize Social Security, reduce government spending, privatize
health
care completely, make the tax cuts permanent and eliminate govt.
subsidies
that prop up failing and/or ineffective businesses.

Regan, you look great in that cheerleader outfit, not to mention the
rose-colored glasses...they add a nice touch.
One laughable comment...
Americans don't want, or need, extremism
And the current administration isn't extremist? Kind of depends on your
outlook doesn't it. But, it's hard to have more than one outlook when
you have
a narrow mind.
So, everything is rosy, right? Have you read about the latest
intelligence
report that says we are in as much danger from Al Qaeda now as we were
before
9/11? This report was put out by this administration. So, yes,
everything is
just rosy cool peachy keen. We've spent billions on a war that was
supposed to
make us safe, we're in debt to our great-grandchildren, 3,500 soldiers
killed,
over 20,000 injured and we're still in as much danger from Al Qaeda as
before.
Yep...the future's so bright...gotta wear shades.
By the way, got any good deals on those rose-colored glasses? Maybe I
should
get me a pair.

Of course you Bush backers completely ignored the point I made
above....care
to re-read it? I'm assuming the reason you didn't comment on it is that
you
found no way to spin it. I'll repeat it again.
A report (from THIS administration's intelligence community) says we are
just
as much in danger of an attack from Al Qaeda now as we were before 9/11.
So, what does that say about your precious administration...guess
they've done
a lot to protect us, huh? Taken away more of our rights, thrown us into
a war
where our brave soldiers have gotten killed and maimed and we are still
in as
much danger of an attack as before 9/11.
So, please, before you go spouting off your Rush Limbaugh talking points
again. Please try to address that point.

Al-Qaida did not have a presense in Iraq before we attacked, there was a
terrorist (Anbar al-Islam) group that had connections to al-Qaida and had
bases in Iraq, in an area not controlled by Saddam, but in a safe area,
patrolled by our coalition forces (we support terrorism when they attack
others, i.e Iran). Lest you forget, Saddam was our partner, our ally,
until
1991. We gave Saddam the poisons and sold Saddam the helicopters (and

Support a President and Vice President who revealed a covert CIA

political retribution against her husband. Nevermind that in exposing the

Support a President who ignores long established treaties, operates

Am I mad, yes, I cannot believe that some citizens of this country are so
blinded by a draft dodging, dry alcoholic, non reading, pothead and ex
coke
abuser (Bush was a known user/abuser until he was 40, just ask Raphael
Palmiero, who talked about such in a 1990's interview I witnessed at
Texas

Why is Harriet Meiers still with Bush? Certainly not because she is
competent,
but because she knows about the payments made so President Bush could
avoid
going to Vietnam, and our President rewards loyalty, over competence
('heck of

This President will be remembered as:
Ignorant and self serving,
A liar who ignored intelligence he did not agree with, then used that
tainted

The failure to protect and help New Orleans,
The record deficits that prop up our economy and will haunt our

Ignoring Global warming,
Someone who was blindly followed by an ignorant minority who would rather

All you have to do is read and open your eyes to what President Bush has
done

some

Would that include farmers, who without subsidies would have a hard time
operating, and Ethanol producers, who without government subsidies of

Not all farmers, but it should include ethanol corn producers which are a
complete waste.
Cecil Adams has it right who says:
One can't expect a lobbyist to walk into a farm belt congressperson's
office
and say, "Sir or madam, ethanol subsidies don't reduce our dependence on
foreign oil, alleviate air pollution, or benefit the country in any other
demonstrable way. A large portion of the money goes directly into the
coffers
of a single multibillion-dollar corporation. Some experts say that
manufacturing ethanol consumes more energy than the fuel produces. In
fact,
all the ethanol industry dependably generates is profits for itself and
campaign contributions for you. Can we count on your vote?"
Also:
The immediate beneficiaries of ethanol subsidies have been corn farmers
and,
more significantly, the Archer Daniels Midland Corporation of Decatur,
Illinois, better known as ADM. The world's largest grain processor, ADM
produces 40 percent of the ethanol used to make gasohol. As might be
supposed,
the company and its officers have been eloquent in their defense of
ethanol
and generous in contributing to both political parties. The politicians
have
been generous right back. The libertarian Cato Institute estimates that
every
dollar of ADM's ethanol profit costs taxpayers 30 bucks.
back to top Community CommentsFri. Jul. 20, 2007 5:34 pm
Bill says:
I also agree that corn produced ethanol is a waste of effort, not only
because
of the inefficient conversion process, because it uses so much water to
produce, and the resultant fuel still emits as much, or more, pollutants
as
the gasoline it is trying to replace.
Methane would be a better choice for a power source for automobiles until
Hydrogen storage and delivery issues are resolved. For years there have
been
factory converted fleet cars/trucks (Chevy Suburban, Ford Crown Vic and
F150)
that run on Methane (CNG), and in Europe CNG autos are quite prevalent.
CNG
burns so clean, the inside of an engine with 500k miles looks brand new.
Last year, I purchased a CNG vehicle, the Honda Civic GX, I get 40MPG,
and can
fill up at home for $1.00/gallon. It has an 8 gallon ('1 gal' = 5.57
lbs)tank
with near zero emissions (New gas tanks in development hold 3.5X as much
gas
in the same space).
Why do you not hear about these cars? The gas companies do not want you
to
know about them. Methane is a gas that can be created by algae, by
garbage, by
remnants from slaughterhouses, by cows... Every community could sequester
Methane from landfills and use it for fuel.
If we are really serious about developing alternative power sources, then
Methane should be a major player, but why is it hardly mentioned?
Is our government really serious about reducing our dependence on
foreign oil
or is it just paying lip service? I think the latter.
'Patriot', your mentor has left the Homeland security so understaffed
that
they will not have the time nor resources for our posts, and besides
that,

While at the same time driving the stock market to record levels. In the

HAHAHAH. Ok, let's start with the first half. I could sit here all day

one
than I usually care to admit) but will suffice to say that had any other
president been in office, it would have done the same thing. You cannot

should not make the mistake of trying to put that jewel in Bush's crown,
sorry. Now, about that housing bubble....
As for the second part, what oil should we get? The stuff that belongs
to the
Iraqi people? I remember this big song and dance about how they would
use that
oil to better themselves, and yet now the Admin is diligently
maneuvering (and
failing) to have the oil fields signed over to the big companies. You
know,
like Haliburton, who just left the country... We should not get that
oil, we
should not even use it as a species, as it's only doing us harm and
there are
many better options, but that's coming later in this post.
Treaties that tie his hands in ways that they can't be allowed to be in

with

Wow. The point you are not getting is that the kind of war we are
fighting is
not the kind of war we should be fighting, by any means. Had we stuck to
the
rules, and been a wee bit more focused, we could have been light years
ahead
of where we are now. Ditching diplomacy, stripping away civil rights and
invading countries with nothing whatsoever to do with Islamic
extremists? How
is that helping us again? Go on. Refer to your talking points.
Just remember that while you are buying the admin line, you are being
robbed
blind and left in harms way. And that is putting it nicely.
As opposed to a philandering deceitful 'Rhoads scholar'? (Clinton)
Or how about a playboy that got us embroiled in a war that cost the
lives of
SIXTY THOUSAND Americans?
Sumfin sumfin two wrongs sumfin right.
This whole line of arguing is just sad. What is your point? And are you
implying that Viet Nam was Kennedy's fault? I'm not sure I follow your
playboy
line, but if it does indeed refer to Kennedy, hey, I got news. Kennedy
dabbled
in those waters a bit but he was dead before we went anywhere near the
mess
that Johnson and Nixon dragged us thru. There were many other options,
and it
was not Kennedy that put us there.
And don't bother trying to say he sent troops there and that started it.
He
was only continuing a police policy that started in 1950. The actual war
did
not begin till 1965, when it all was pushed forward by corporate
interest in
tin.
Harriet Miers is a hell of a lawyer.
So is Gonzales, Ginsberg, and from what I hear, the devil. So what? What
kind
of PERSON is she? She's a sycophant, like Gonzales, and that should be
apparent to anyone paying attention.
By your own admission, we had good intelligence to support Saddam having
chemical weapons. We sold them to him.
Yup. We also sold him a lot of other stuff, but then we took it all away
with
the help of the UN and our allies in the first war. Your argument is
completely ignoring the facts that we had inspectors in there at one
time,
that there was no indication of any WMD left by the time Bush got his
hankering on (hence the ridiculous and contrived theatre we were treated
to in
the build-up to the war) and that regardless, we were not and are not in
a
position where we should be worrying about Saddam. He was a fly in the
ointment. Sure he buzzed here and there, but he was going nowhere. We
had and
have bigger issues than getting bogged in Vietnam v2.0
Honestly, if the Republicans would just say "It's about the oil", they'd
get a
lot more of my respect just for being honest.
'The record deficits that prop up our economy and will haunt our
children,'
No.
Uh. Yes. Unless you think the magic Money Faerie is going to come save
us?
'
Ignoring Global warming,'
Much as he ignores the flying spaghetti monster theory. Actually, there
is
nobody with any evidence against the FSM, so really it could be said to
be
more credible.
Are you really saying there is no evidence, and that it isn't happening?
Or
are you saying that it's not our fault, it's natural? Either way, I'm
calling
you on it, and rightly so, but I'll let you clarify first.
'Someone who was blindly followed by an ignorant minority who would
rather
believe rhetoric over reality.'
The minority that re-elected him?
Yes. The same one that failed to elect him the first time as well, and
both
times resorted to countless underhanded techniques from denying
minorities the
right to vote, tampering with and full-on hacking the machines, twisting
voting districts around, faking exit polls, denying paper ballots in many
places, using only machines tied to one very interest-conflicted
company, etc.
This is documented stuff. You can find info on many non-partisan sites
as well
as of course, many partisan Dem sites.
Funny how you can't find much about it at Fox News, or any of the other
corporate media outlets. This doesn't change the fact that it was all a
sham.
Wonder what they'll pull in 08. Simply put, our voting system is broken.
It isn't what Bush has done to the world, but what people like you have
done
to the military. ...
Funny. I thought Bush was the Decider, the Commander in Chief.
What have people like US done to the military? I volunteered of my own
free
will for the military, and support our troops (including friends and
family)
wholeheartedly. That's why I get so disgusted when I hear f*cks like you
talking like Bush is the Army's best friend.
Cutting combat pay and a list of benefits longer than my arm,
over-extending
duties for enlisted and even post-enlisted troops, not instituting a
draft (if
this war is right, we should back it up proper!), sending them into a
place
where they don't belong with not nearly enough equipment, and hey, let's
not
forget dodging the draft himself. Dan Rather my ass, it's obvious.
I just spent a few hours with a friend and his army buddy. They've been
to
Afghanistan and Iraq. The friend was quite involved for a while in
training
the Iraqi Army.
They were very emotional about the prospect of their Iraqi friends dying
when
we leave, but they were very clear on the fact that we STILL NEED TO GET
OUT
NOW, that the troops almost unilaterally hate Bush and aren't afraid to
say
it, that the whole thing was botched from the get go, and that most
Iraqis
want us out. This was not news to me, I been hearing it all for some
time,
from a looot of soldiers.
Granted, they both said there is no easy way out. But they agreed, we are
doing far more harm than good, have no hope of fixing the situation, and
if we
don't get out soon, we will be sitting ducks here at home. You know,
where
Iraqis are being smuggled over the Mexican border and dirty bombs are
imminent?
DO NOT tell me about the great things Bush did for the army, or try to
tell me
he's not destroying the armed forces with this war. I will call your bs.
'If an opposing comment wants to reply to this, hopefully they can
address the
facts, but I doubt it.'
When you present me with some actual facts, I will address them.

Bill says:
Brian,
You make this too easy
Point 1
Russia is the world's top supplier of weapons, a spot it has held since
2001,
accounting for around 30% of worldwide weapons sales, followed by the
United
States, France, Germany and Britain
Perhaps if you are going to put the countries in order of arms sold, they
should be in proper order. How insidious is it that we would supply both
sides
in a war?
Oh, and it was not a pardon for Scooter, he commuted his sentence, if
Bush
would have pardoned Scooter, then Scooter would have to testify about
what he
did, since the case is under appeal, he cannot testify until it is
resolved,
the pardon comes when Bush is leaving office.
Bush is a very experienced liar, he has been one all his life, it is
just that
he is a very bad liar. Why do you bring up Clinton? Still smarting over
those
8 years?
Again Brian, this is too easy.
Valerie Plame WAS a covert agent, she had been overseas numerous times
in the
last 5 years... Do you read? Valerie Plame, according to the CIA, was a
covert
agent, there is NO arguing the fact. How do you claim that you can
follow her
work, when her work is classified? WHY would the President and Vice
President
out a COVERT agent to get even with her husband??? In a time of war...is
that
not treason??? Is this how you protect those who put their lives on the
line
to do intelligence work for the USA???
'Oil deals we should get...' What? We own the oil because we have the
most
weapons? This is a very slanted viewpoint of world politics. Oil is why
we are
in Iraq, not because of al-Qaida. Get over it, the price of oil is not
going
down, only up. There is a limited supply, and China will be using a
WHOLE lot
of oil quite soon, and your response will be, just as your hero Curtis
LeMay
would do 'Nuke em.' Yeah, your world sounds really nice...
'Treaties that tie his hands in ways that they can't be allowed to be in
the
kind of war we're fighting.' Brian, do you have any idea as to what long
standing treaties that Bush has decided to ignore? Treaties with Russia?
Are
we at war with Russia? How about the Enforcement Protocol of the
Biological
Weapons Convention, the withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile
Treaty,
Fissile Materials Cutoff Treaty, Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty... It
seems
that you know enough about the internet to reply to a letter, but not
enough
to do a search.
Again you bring up your hatred for Bill Clinton, a Rhodes scholar. If
you were
to search Rhodes Scholar you may find out how to spell it. So, Clinton
is a
cery powerful person, with tons of charisma, sex appeal, and a bulbous
nose.
Chicks dig him, get over it. He had sexual relations in the White House,
so
what. So did JFK, LBJ, and numerous other Presidents. And he lied in a
deposition. You know what? People lie in depositions ALL the time, their
stories tend to change when they appear in court, but, and I have
witnessed it
first-hand, people lie in depositions all the time, and our Congress
wasted 63
million dollars investigating a President whose definition of sexual
relations
is different that your's and mine.
JFK responsible for 60,000 American dead? Yes JFK helped get the US
involved
in Vietnam, Eisenhower also had a hand, but LBJ and Nixon were part and
parcel
to the mess.
'Harriet Miers is a hell of a lawyer' ... She tied her wagon to Bush in
'89,
and of course with Bush, loyalty trumps competence. If she is such a
great
lawyer, why did she not become a Supreme Court Judge, when she was
nominated,
with a Republican Congress, a Republican Senate, and a Republican
President? I
know her beckground, there are a hell of a lot of better attorneys than
Harriet Miers.
More easy stuff:
'By your own admission, we had good intelligence to support Saddam having
chemical weapons. We sold them to him.'
We had good intelligence..., well, when Rumsfels and Reagan sold Saddam
poisons and helicopters it was in 1983, we attacked Iraq in 2003, Sadamm
destroyed these chemicals weapons after the Kuwaiti war, witnessed by UN
inspectors. Yet, the White House decided to use 'intelligence' that was
to
their liking. Are you aware who 'Curveball' was? All you do is look for
the
search window and type in Curveball and Iraq intelligence. See how easy
it is
to become informed that: The Chalabi supplied informant (code named
Curveball)
who supplied the majority of information we used for the Iraqi war was a
mentally confused taxi driver?
Katrina: The problem in New Orleans did not originate with FEMA, it
began with
the withdrawal of funds by a Republican Congress for the Army Corps of
Engineers to build the dikes and flood walls to withstand a hurricane
several
magnitudes larger than Katrina. The tragedy was exacerbated by major
failures
with FEMA and local and state government. Once again, if you want your
argument to hold water, maybe you should do a little more investigating
facts.
Record deficits will haunt our children. You must not be aware of what
they
mean, and that they just won't go away by nuking the countries we owe.
And who
is buying our debt? China, Japan, Saudi Arabia to name a few, and they
could
call this debt owed at any time. How is that for national security. The
outstanding public Debt as of 21 Jul 2007 at 05:48:44 AM GMT is:
$8,899,622,497,162.68 The estimated population of the United States is
302,485,476. So, each citizen's share of this debt is $29,421.65. And,
all we
are doing is paying interest on this debt, it is not decreasing as it was
before 2001. The Republican congress raided funds from Social Security
to help
lower the deficit, yeah, that is real fiscal conserventcey.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.33 billion
per
day since September 29, 2006!
Wow, equating the Flying Spaghetti Monster with Global warming. Left the
house
lately? When 99% of all Climatologists agree that Global warming is a
fact,
and you choose to believe the other 1%. Do you have any idea as to what
Hydrogen sulfide is, what creates it, and what it can and has done? This
I am
not going to help you with, you will have to look it up on your own.
Look for
the search window, type in Hydrogen sulfide and Global warming. Type in
Global
warming and read. not realizing that we are in a period of tipping the
climate
of our planet to a point of no return. Even if we were to eliminate CO2
emissions altogether, it would take over 100,000 years for our planet to
return to CO2 levels that existed before the industrial revolution. Have
you
ever seen the haze over Los Angeles on a summer day? Ever breathe the
dirty
air of Beijing, the smog in Mexico City. When there are duststorms in
China it
affects the air in the USA, When there is sandstorms in Africa, it
affects the
air on the East Coast. It is a small world, and it can only handle so
much
pollution, and we are very close to the limit.
For once Brian is correct: My quote:
Someone who was blindly followed by an ignorant minority who would rather
believe rhetoric over reality.
Brian's reply: 'The minority that re-elected him?'
Yes Brian, the minority that elected him. If you are aware of the voting
habits of the American people, you will realize that a minority of
Americans
do elect the President. Bush was not elected in 2000, he was given the
election when the Supreme Court stopped a ballot recount. During the 2004
election there was enough election fraud that occurred in Ohio that 2
republicans are in jail for voting fraud. The caging of eligible voters
was a
tactic that the RNC and Karl Rove worked to perfection. Again, you can
look it
up on your own.
What have people like me done to the military? What about what your
fearless
leader has done to the military? Sending our soldiers to fight a war so
he can
get even with someone who tried to kill his father? A war that had
nothing to
do with 9/11? 15 of the 19 highjackers were Saudi's, wahabbist Saudi's
(check
it out, go to the search window, type 9/11 terrorists), do you know
about the
wahabbi version of Islam. Yeah, Bush is behind the military, ask Jessica
Lynch, ask the Tillman family. The ChickenHawks in the White House and
Vice
President residence sure talk a good line but when it come to serving in
the
military, where were they? Did they go to their local draft board and
sign up
when they were 18? Did they have a low number in the draft, and get on
an army
bus at their draft board to go to the nearest place where they took a
physical
with 50 other men (well, we were really just boys then), did they wait
anxiously for the letter that told them they were 1A and were going to be
drafted to go to Vietnam? Well, some of us did, and to question what we
did
for our country in time of war, and what our friends did, is something
that I
find astounding. Perhaps if Brian saw the horrors of war, where you are
talking to your buddy one second, and the next second he is slumped over
with
half of his head blown away, he might be singing a different tune than
his
hero Curtis LeMay. Yeah, nuke em, that is how you make friends and
influence
people.
Brian, try again when you have some facts.

But
there is NO reasoning with these types, so I won't even try. Let's just

that current events have much more than justified the concerns of
thinking
Americans regardless of their political affiliation. Cheny/Bush have not
only
failed us miserably, they are taitors who have undermined our democracy
to its
core. Those who still insist that this band of criminals are the greatest

wouldn't know reason if it bit them on their wide armchair general

is precisely because of these unsavory, hypocritical, sanctimonious
types that
this once great country is in the situation it finds itself in today. To
them,
self-rightousness and an inability to admit mistakes is more important
than
truth and decency. If not for the unwavering support of buffons like
these,
Bush would be histroy, and someone with a mind would be leading us right
now.
And it's going to take someone with a mind to get us out of this. We've
wasted
six years with this Presidency's incompetance. Instead of actually
fighting
terrorism, these criminals have squandered our military might; our
standing
with the world; the very things that made us a great democracy. We can't
survive much more of this.

Your article hit home - I joined the US State Department after 9/11 as a
foreign service officer hoping to make a difference - however, my
idealism was
quickly shattered as I realized that diplomacy was not a consideration
in this
new world order that bush, cheney, and his dutiful soldier, powell and
now
rice envisioned. Our country is in dire peril, as both democrats and
republicans appear frozen from stating the obvious - America is no longer
free, we have become subservient to a foreign nation, Israel, and we have
sided with them over all countries that neighbor her. Ironically, it is
by
remaining the honest broker among all middle eastern countries that we
can
ever become the prominent world power again. Sadly, our destiny remains
as it
is, and our US dollar is on the brink of collapse, and so is our world
prominence. No presidential candidate, except for Ron Paul, even comes
close
to addressing the significance of our perilous future. I had to resign
from
this dangerous administration and government service as I could no longer
defend this dangerous foreign policy overseas. Sadly, rice, cheney and
bush
have made it even worse - until Americans stand up and impeach these
dangerous
criminals, including the congressional leaders who refuse to act
according to
our beloved constitution, we are in danger of losing our precious
freedoms
that our forefathers created several hundred years ago...

It's really amazing that anyone here supports US history's worst
president.
These people have one thing in common with him, and that is a complete
detachment from reality.
I love the argument that since 9/11 there hasn't been another attack. To
start
with, we were attacked under his watch. What did he do when it was all
going
down? He was reading about a pet goat, and when he got the news, he
froze like
a deer in headlights, then disappeared for the rest of the day, probably
being
briefed by Rove and Cheney on how to actually act presidential.
Meanwhile we
know that Cheney issued orders for NORAD to stand down, allowing the
attack to
go through.
This administration is now warning us about another imminent attack.
Well, if
they're doing such a grand job protecting us, why is the attack
imminent? The
attack will happen to reverse their sagging poll numbers and popularity,
and
Americans as dumb as our little Hitlerjugen here will stand behind him
and say
'see, we told you so'. No kidding. having allowed the first one, of
course he
will allow the second one in order to consolidate the police state he's
been
trying to impose on us from the start.
Most of Bush's die hard supporters also have never been in the military.
Wave
the flag and urge a war, and say 'nuke 'em', knowing they won't have to
do the
dirty work themselves, won't have to face death like all those soldiers
in
Iraq and Afghanistan now. I was a Vietnam vet, and I resent anyone who
supports a war that they are unwilling to fight even when they are of
military
age, and under Bush, soon, my grandmother will be of military age. You
like
this war? Go and fight it then.
the lamest of all Bush defenses is always conjuring up Clinton. Well, i
never
liked him, but he is not the president now, Bush is, and he's destroying
America, and it's by design. When Bush failed as a businessman, he still
walked away with a handsome profit. If we let him walk away from his
presidency when it ends, he and his cronies will have left America in
ruins,
but will have profited immensely. It is time for impeachment.
Impeachment for
high crimes and treason, which he has committed as American history's
worst

For those of you who refuse to see reality and grave status of our

You ignorant, mindless Bush supporters are morally treasonous trash with

endless
lies and crimes of these lying whores and traitors.
You neo-con bootlickers will be held accountable in the near future for

You are the true enemy of this once great nation and you will commit your
childern and grand-childern to slavery and Fascism because of your
willful
ignorance and for that, may they spit on your grave. You are the very
same
filth that brought Hitler to power.
You Bush lovers are some sort of demented sub-human culture of mindless
evil

sniveling,
groveling spys that will gladly turn-in your own family and friends to
the
police-state for a pat on your empty heads.
You are referred to by your own leaders as 'Useless-Eaters' and 'Useful
Idiots' by the way. You chicken necks are so stupid that you don't even
know
that they mock you and your groveling. You are a disgrace to our nation
and
you will die a traitor's death by the hand of your own leaders.
What will it take to make you see that both parties are totally
controlled,
That, the corporate media is totally controlled, that the dollar is being
destroyed on purpose, that we have lost nearly all of our manufacturing
base,
that the borders are meant to be WIDE OPEN to create the coming North
American
Union and the death of our freedom. Yet you mindless sheep see none of
this

The Iraq war was based on lies 650,000 dead Iraqis, and we wonder why
they
retaliate against U.S. occupation. It's like China occupying the U.S,
wouldn't
you fight back? When you kick down people's doors and point guns at
families,
then you have a serious problem. Nation Buidling for global empire is
not the
answer.
People claim this war was all about oil since there wasn't any WMD.
Because
we're running out of oil etc. Lack of oil is a joke, Venezuela has a
large
amount of it. It's about putting a cap on oil, to make it look scarce
then
jack up the price.
The neocon plan is to enrage the Iraqis enough that chaos continues for
as
long possible so that companies like Halliburton can continue to profit,
and
to build permanant bases.
As for 9/11 nothing fits, the president sits in a class room for 30
minutes
while the country is under attack, when news reports said the whole
country
was at risk of being attacked, yet the president thought he was
invincible.

I see you have 'bots too.
It never fails that as soon as the obvious, and which has been obvious
since
2001, that Bush and his cabal are no better than common criminals, and
incompetent ones at that, is state anew we see the wave of fulminations
and
scare mongering. 'Al Qaeda' is under yer' bed and is gonna gitcher'
babies!
The question one must ask is that when have enough innocent people who
had
nothing to do with terror upon American soil been murdered in
'retribution'?
With the civilian death toll in Iraq now approaching 1,000,000 innocent
women,
men, and CHILDREN murdered in an insane war sold on lies when will people
remove the Rove colored glasses an look at the reality?
Of course for the insane war mongers and profiteers it will never be
enough.
Some days I think, cynically, that for the war mongers and clarions of
'endless war for endless peace' that only the death of the entirety of
humanity will fullfill their bloodlust, and even then it would not be
enough
for they are quite insane.
So, the question is at what point is enough. At what point is the Mount
of
Skulls tall enough? At what point is the monument to man's inhumanity to
man
of great enough magnitude to make people stop and pause and notice the
insanity?
We have had torture, secret prisons, extraordinary renditions, the total
disregard of common humanity. The legacy of the bastion of freedom has
been
tarnished and our sacred honor is now covered in filth. When is it
enough?
If not now then when? America is my home and its honor dear to me. My
family
settled this land 150 years before 1776 and it is my home and their
legacy to
me. To see it so debauched and debased by the corrupt to the core cabal
now
infesting 'The People's House' is a rank obscenity and an affront to all
those
who struggled and died that we might live free.
When is enough, enough?

Big M says:
First off, Bush wasn't elected in 2004. Even the Village Idiot now knows
that
the election was stolen. Bush hasn't been legitmately elected even once.
Anyway, the entire system is broken. Nothing in the big picture will
change,
even if Ron Paul is somehow elected (he'd better stay away from small
planes,
and if he somehow, by some miracle, gets into the White House, he'd
better
sleep in a Kevlar vest).
What has to happen is that the people of this country have to demand
another
constitutional convention, where they will completely abolish the federal
government, as well as the constitution that established it. This, of
course,
will almost certainly have to be done by armed force, since these
Zionist-controlled fascists in DC will, undoubtedly, gleefully unleash
the
military on anybody that peacefully tries to effect any change. Every
single
federal enforcement agency needs to be defunded, and blown up root and
branch.
That?s right. I?m talking about the FBI, DEA, CIA, BATF, etc., etc. ad
nauseam. And a creative approach needs to be taken with regards to a
remedy
for the people that populate these hideous agencies. You also need to
abolish
the IRS and the Federal Reserve, and get rid of fractional-reserve
banking
completely. Additionally, the 16th and 17th Amendments need to be
repealed,
even though they were never legally ratified in the first place. Leaving
the
infrastructure of these things intact and operational, while continuing
to
fund them, will only allow the cancer to grow. And every single person
in the
military needs to be removed from every foreign nation NOW, and returned
inside this country?s borders, where their first order of business
should be
to kick every single illegal alien out of this country, and shoot any
that
resist. After that, the military needs to be drawn down to no more than
10% of
its present size, and probably smaller than that, if not eliminated
altogether.
The people that drew up the Constitution are an interesting lot. They
were
sent there to propose amendments to the Articles of Confederation, and
any
amendments had to be approved by ALL of the states. There was no
centralized
government at that time. Instead, these people of wealth and power, who
wanted
their rank and privileges to be protected from the ?rabble, and had
pulled
strings and twisted arms to get themselves appointed to represent their
respective states at the convention, held their meetings in secret, and
proposed an entirely new form of government, which included the federal
monster we all know and love, and stipulated that only TWO-THIRDS of the
states could put it into operation. Of course, the states didn?t have to
ratify it, and they damn well shouldn?t have. But the people that wanted
this
in effect at all costs fed the people boatloads of lies to convince them
to
ratify. You can see where all of this has gotten us, as well as the rest
of
the world.
It?s time to return to the Articles of Confederation.

At the beginning of his first term I felt sorry for Bush as he was made
into a
laughing stock, because of his ignorance of things which the average
welleducated 18 year old should know.
When he went to war against Iraq my reaction was that he tried to make
up for
his father's screwup for not finishing off Saddam and his regime during
the
desert war.
He could only have taken the a leaf out of Eastern Europe after the
demise of
the USSR. those countries more or less put their lives together.
Unfortunately, Bush knew little about the Arab world and Muslim
extremism,
which many experts of the region could have advised him on. Neither does
he
understand guerilla warfare, which a regular army cannot win. Failures in
Vietnam and Somalia is still fresh in our memory.
An intelligent person, when he realises that he cannot cross a quagmire
he
will try to extricate himself the best he can, instead of wading further
and
further into it, until he has one option left : drowning. If one man
makes
such a decision for himself, that is fine, but if he is in charge of an
army,
he needs to be stopped.
What happens if American soldiers on the ground decide to mutiny? Will
Bush
send in further troops to quell it. Does he expect brother to murder
brother?
Americans cannot wait until the new elections, they cannot wait even for
a
day. Bush needs to be stopped, impeached and brought to trial or sent to
a
mental asylum. He is either a criminal or a madman.

That's enough for me to understand that the normal left-right paradigm
is just
a front to keep us arguing. A great crime has been committed, and the
guilt
has been pinned on a very convenient patsy (the CIA-invented Al-Kayda).
Most
of the world knows this, and understands this, but huge swaths of
'Americans'
still swallow the propaganda media's 'official' reality.
How Soviet. They are desperate to lable 9/11 deniers as mentally
deranged. How
crazy is that? Either I don't believe what my eyes say is obvious, or I
must
be nuts. The ignorance of the average 'American' is an unholy shame.

Since Patriot clearly wants to silence anyone who thinks Bush's war on
Iraq is
a catastrophe launched by people who avoided any frontline service in a
war
themselves ( Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle etc).... by reporting them
to the
so called Homeland Security Bull*** Department, he had better start
typing.
Because there will be at least two hundred million American names on that
list.... over two thirds of Americans think Bush, his war, and his
policies
have been a disaster... and they want him gone.

IT amazes me that there are people who call themselves Americans who
still
believe any of the bull coming out of our government. A little simple
research
by intelligent folks will enlighten them as to the truth, scientific
proof
that 911 was an inside job, and see that the strongholds are being put in
place to make this country even worse....It is coming, and i fear that
too
many so called Americans are pussified, and caught up in the propoganda
that
we may not have enough people to rise up aginst this tyranny and take
this
country back, and once again make it free....its going to be a long
bloody
battle, but hopefully those of us who are TRUE AMERICANS see whats
happening,
and will fight to take back what is rightfully ours!

It amazes me how many people in these forums get caught by adolescent
trolls
spouting something stupid just to get a reaction.
We all know there aren't this many Bush supporters walking free, and
aside
from that, the writing and thinking skill of these sad trolls should be
a dead
give away as to how generally old they are. Most don't even bother with
any
real information, they just crack a few puns, insult who/whatever seems
like
the easiest target, and sit back laughing as everybody else swarms.
Ignore the twits and let's have a real discussion.

Brian says:
I'm just going to say a few things.
First off, I'm 18 years old. You people talk about this affecting your
children, well it isn't going to be my children, it is going to be me.
I'm not
worried. Secondly, I'm going into the Marines in a few months. I'm
thinking
I'm going to go infantry, I'm going to at least try out for Recon. They
didn't
have to have a draft to get me to do it either.
Bill, I wasn't putting them in order of arms sold I was just listing the
five
biggest. I should have pointed that out.
This is another big point. If I had to grade Bush's performance as
president
I'd put him somewhere between a 'c' and a 'd'. I'm by no means a
hardcore Bush
supporter or a hard-line republican. I just happen to be of the opinion
that
the only way one can combat extremists is extermination. No amount of
talk is
EVER going to change these people. After they are dead, you guys can
have at
changing the outlook of their children.
About the oil and the comment about us getting it because we have the
most
guns. Yep, that's how stuff works. I'm not saying take it all, but I'd
say
we've invested enough to claim a field or too and combat a couple of our
money
problems.
Global Warming. Yes, it's happening. It's happened before. It may or may
not
be happening somewhat faster. Thus concludes everything we KNOW about
it. Lots
of people THINK things about it, but that's what we KNOW.
Harriet Miers. Someone said she wasn't competent. She is. She might not
be the
absolute best, but that doesn't mean she isn't good. Honestly I know very
little about the woman, but I looked her up and she is a good lawyer.
Her job
is being one. She is competent at it. I merely tried to debunk someone
who
said she wasn't. I have nothing to say about anything else you have to
say
about her.
The problem I have with liberals and the anti Bush crowd is two fold. 1)
Acting like he is the only president to do this. I know the two wrongs
thing,
but if what you have a problem with is the system don't solely blame the
person who is only the current incarnation. 2) Not doing a damn thing.
Left to
their own devices libs do nothing. They talk they bitch and they whine
but
they don't DO anything. The worst part is that the media as a whole
doesn't
even touch them for it.
You can have the last word. Someone said something about not being able
to
argue with people like me. Liberals also talk about how we need to see
the
world from someone elses point of veiw, however, you don't applly that
to us.
Liberals (as a whole) act like anyone who is even a bit conservative is
an
ignorant moron. We're not we just disagree. From my opinion YOU are the
ignorant people that can't see how things work. I have a something of a
motto
that someone here might get something out of. 'All history is military
history.'

Chris says:
Brian,
You are so naive...which is exactly why they let 18 year olds enlist in
the
Marines. My advice, don't do it. If you see 15 months of non stop combat
you
will likely come home damaged whether you get hit or not. Talk to a lot
of our
people who have already gone over and I think you will get the real
picture
quickly. BTW, the Marine recruiter doesn't count and he is not your
friend
even though he pretends to be. He's got a quota to meet and your just
his next
bag.
Most likely you will be going to Iraq if you enlist. I seriously doubt
you
understand this but Iraq did not attack us on 911. No really, it is
true. Iraq
was largely a secular state before 2003. The population is largely
Islamic but
they were Islamic in the sense that they went to the mosque and prayed
the
their god sort of like how most Christians do here in our country. Al
Queda
did not come in until after we invaded. Even now they are only a
minority of
the fighters we face in Iraq. Most likely, if you get sent to Iraq you
will be
fighting insurgents. Insurgents are the radicalized elements of the Iraqi
population who are, through the trauma they have experienced from
invasion and
occupation, and also the natural human resistance to occupation,
fighting us
in Iraq. By the way, Iraqis are pretty good at this. They have been
doing this
insurgent thing pretty much continually for the past 5000 years or so.
Whatever the case may be, if you consider this a war of extermination we
do
not share anything in common, you and me. Nazis fought a war of
extermination
70 years ago and, number one it was a disgusting act that has forever
tainted
the people who were involved in it and number two nearly ended in the
extermination of the exterminators. You know a few cute catch phrases
about
'Military history' and all but you don't have a clue what it means. You
should
probably read a book about Nuremberg c.1946. I know it is not 'Military
History' but it may clue you in to what THIS COUNTRY THAT I LOVE DOES TO
THOSE
WHO FIGHT WARS OF EXTERMINATION!!
