....there are two things I never forget about the military. 1 is that
the lifers are almost never going to make-say-or do anything against
the commander in chief...he is their boss and can make or break any of
them. 2 is that war is their fast track to promotion and higher
status-rank-salary, so it's doubtful that many of them are going to
say or do anything that will shorten or end whatever current conflict
they have going. That being said, we need a military and we need them
to be ready constantly at a moments notice. We also need civilian
oversight of all the things that they say and do. In the case of
Batiste and the others, you have to know that things are seriously
fucked up for them to speak up the way they have. It's professional
suicide. And the peckerwood still hasn't the sense to realize and
listen. It pretty much speaks for itself...
