Oh please! what? Are you saying the two actions are not actually the
same. If so, please provide your logic. They sound the same to me
but I've done no investigation so I don't know. Do you or are you
just knee jerking again?
Here are a few differences:

1) Clinton replaced the US atttorneys at the beginning of his first
term as did Bush 41 and Reagan.

2) Clinton was replacing US attorney appointed by a former
president, the DOJ was replacing some of Bush's own appointments.

3) Clinton got Senate approval for all of his replacements. Bush
got no Senate approval for any of these eight, using a provision of
the Patriot Act to skip this step even though none of the fired US
attorneys were a security threat. (The provision was slipped into the
Patriot Act at the last minute by a staffer of Arlen Specktor.)

4) The eight US attorneys were fired on trumped up charges.

Bets

Your right & add one more. It may be that at least one was fired
because of a case he had on going & the Attorney General could face
obstruction of justice charges. Maybe more people could.

Ray, do you know of any committee or congressional action that is calling for the reinstatement of the fired attorneys? I don't know of any such action being taken; haven't read anything the in papers nor heard on radio news.

It's Show & Tell time. The Dem's took over and now it's time to _appear_ to flex some muscle. Behind closed doors I'll bet there's Dem talks about what to do to keep fooling the public that putting them in control was the right thing to do. I can't say the Repub's were any too bright, having done little to resolve a lot of important national issues needing attention. But I can't say the Dem's have done any better; exception being they are better actors.
