The healing was not as complete as it would have been had a trial taken

discussion is proof of my argument. The healing is not over. Had a trial
taken place resulting in a conviction and a pardon given, I would have had
no issue with Ford. But he left us with a legacy of 'what if' and a stain
forever on the face of justice.

Given your explanation, why do you believe a pardon would be OK?

I guess I'm a little surprised since at you position since it doesn't
seem to me that Nixon was in any way deserving of a pardon. In my
book he did the crime and he should have done the time. Anything less
than that, it seems to me, is an insult to our system of justice.

I believe a pardon would have been acceptable after the justice system had
run it's course. To give a blanket pardon _before_ any conviction by any
legal body is an insult to our system of justice. Afterwards was a political
necessity to move forward.
