pi = 3.14159.... It's on the Windows calculator, scientific mode.

Ernie, I ran it the first time using my HP and just did it again using the Microsoft calculator and I still get: 42,016,940. (dropping the decimal).
Hmmnn... I used a Sharp calculator to check the numbers from Windows. Came up with 42,016,904.98, which is the limit of the display.
Here's how we got two different numbers. I think the Pi you used was 3.1415926535897932384626433832795 (whew). I used 3.14159. Which is what you posted.
Well, I posted "3.14159...." since Pi is an irrational number. For posting purposes, and for building something, five places is usually enough imo. I just pulled the numbers from the calculator via copy/paste so the value of Pi to 31 places is included in the result.
Geeze Ernie, production drawing decimal tolerances were generally listed as being +/- 0.000 max. Manufacturing couldn't handle greater than that. Anyway, doing the math your way using Pi to 31 places rounds off to 16 and doing the math using Pi to three decimal places still rounds off to 16. < BG >
Do you remember when we used to do this sort of stuff with a slide rule? A person was lucky to guess the result to three places. <g>
Yes Sir, I sure do. (Ugh's)
