Paul,

So it sounds like legally, my current landlord is still the
owner up till the public auction?  9/25 ?

That's my guess based on what little you show here, but it's just a
guess.

How about if i pro-rate the rent:  (25/30)xrent

No, the whole rent is probably due at the beginning of the month. What
you are proposing is called "self-help". Courts do not like self-help.

And then maybe subtract the deposit, which i know i will not get
back,  and which he will most definitely not give to the new
owners.....??

This is more self-help. You are not entitled to your deposit until you
move out. Make sure you can prove that you paid a deposit.

Well, i would call it "Self-Help" to continue to collect
rent for 6-12 months on a property you aren't paying the mortgage
on!!!

This guy is a crook, and it should be completely legal for
a tenant to not have to pay him.

I can't know the specifics of your contract, even if an oral
month-to-month contract, but I expect you'll find there is no clause
in the rental agreement that permits you to withhold rent because the
owner isn't paying the mortgage.
