Did the Scalito Court provide the specs for a "constitutionally
protected" gun?

No, but it includes lawfully available firearms used for
self-defense, such as handguns.

So how do we know what hardware is _constitutionally_ protected?

We know some.

If not, all the nutters got is some dicta like in Emerson.

This is manifestly false. The Court established that the federal
government cannot take away the individual right to own a firearm for
self- defense, at least in one's home.

But what are the specs on that firearm?

I want to defend my home and hearth from DC thugs.

I want to buy the most stoppin' power available that DC won't be able
to regulate.

They can regulate them all. They just can't ban certain ones.

What is that handgun?

A .45 ought to do the job. Careful you don't blow your feet off .

It'll take 2 weeks but even the looneytarians will figger it out
when they show up at gun shops and cannot buy a 50 cal machine gun.

Gun nuts generally do not want to buy or be able to buy 50 caliber
machine guns.

_Looneytarian_ gun nuts aren't interested in .50 cal machine guns
because they believe the 2nd protects Apache gun ships, RPGs and
suitcase nukes.

Gun nuts post here all the time. I've never read a post from one who
thought the 2nd applies to nukes. There are loons in the bunch, but
there are loons in every large enough bunch. Most gun nuts make reasoned
arguments for the private right to firearms and against gun control.

Nonetheless, they will be as disappointed in the decision as the gun
grabbers.

But hey, if it helps the media keep the public discussion off of
spiraling energy costs, health care and other economic issues during
an election year, then they've done their job!

The Supreme Court does not issue advisory decisions. Heller came up
through the DC District and the DC Court of Appeals as the result of a DC
law. The DC Court of Appeals was in conflict with other districts, and
the Supremes job is to resolve the conflict.

Spiraling energy costs and health care are legislative issues.

Are you really this ignorant? Does it hurt?
