Having private savings accounts comprise a part
of
social
security
is
not the same as privatizing social security.

I'm doin' my best here, but don't give Jonez any
more
quotes.

Privatizing social security is the plan to assign
to
citizens
sums
of
money
that they can manage. These are called "private
accounts,"
even
though
they would be subject to rules different from
those
that
apply
to
your
savings account at the corner bank. Today Social
Security
operates
like
an
insurance system.

True, but many who favor "privatizing" it want to
allow
people
to
put
their entire retirement savings into private
accounts.
Allowing
a
small
portion to be individually invested and saved in a
private
account
is
far different from this.

I don't see the word "small" in anything McCain said.
If
it's
not
a
significant amount, why bother?

Because small is not necessarily insignificant,
simpleton.

Before you call anyone a simpleton, maybe you should
tell
us
where
you see the word "small" in what McCain said.

Well, since you put "small" in quotes, you're obviously
going
to
be
so
literal-minded as to expect to see a quote with that
specific
word
in
it, which, obviously, you know does not appear in any of
the
quotes
above.

But he said private savings accounts are a "part" of
social
security
reform. And a part of something is less than the whole of
it

And you got "small" from that how, again?

Shall we agree that McCain supports "partial" privatization
of
Social
Security?

I have no idea what you'd agree to. My instinct is that
you'll
disagree
with whatever I say, as a knee-jerk reaction, since you
always
do.

Do you agree that McCain supports partial privatization of
Social
Security?

It appears that way based on his March 3 quote.

I agree.

So?

So see the subject line for this thread.

I did. John McCain has never called himself a liar, that I'm aware of
or that anyone has posted.

Here, I'll make it easy for you:

Subject: Re: John McCain Calls John McCain a Big Liar

?Without privatization, I don?t see how you can possibly, over time,
make sure that young Americans are able to receive Social Security
benefits.?

John McCain on November 18, 2004 on C-SPAN's Road To The White
House.

"I'm not for, quote, privatizing Social Security. I never have been.
I never will be."

John McCain 6/13/2008

Gee, thanks. It's not like this same information appears above all of
your drivel, or anything like that.

Well, the C-SPAN quote is new. Beyond that, you seem a little slow,
and
repetition sometimes helps with slow people.

Do you really think you contributed anything to this thread? Seriously?

Sure. I got you to admit that McCain supports at least partial
privatization
of Social Security, and is now lying about it.

Actually, my very first post in this thread said that he was in favor of
having part of people's social security accounts in private savings
accounts.

So although you apprently think you did contribute to this thread, you
didn't.

Once again Larry manifests the pomposity that has made him a misc.legal
laughingstock.

Bottom line: McCain is lying about his position on privatizing Social
Security.

Sure, if you're one of the idiots who evaluates a candidate's position
on an important, complex issue like social security based on five-second
sound bites instead of truly examining the issue.

No, I'm one of those "idiots" who takes offense when a candidate says one thing
to one audience and another thing to another audience. And then lies about what
he has said in the past.

But the lying to the electorate on important complex issues (cough, Iraq,
cough) by the Bush administration hasn't caused us any problems now, has it?

Oops, forgot I was talking to someone who thinks our mission in Iraq is
to "crush the Sunnis and the Shiites." (Way to truly examine a comples issue!)
