In our town (Toledo, OH) an attorney took (stole) money from
several of her clients. It seems pretty cut and dried. Just
recently she resigned from the bar before it conducted any sort
of investigation/proceedings.
Often times an Ethics action commenced before they resigned, or
alleging events while they were active, can still be prosecuted by
the Bar Ethics Committee.
My question is this: Can she come back later and resume the
practice of law?
The unsettled complaints will still be waiting for her.
She hasn't been disbarred. What has to
happen for her to get back in the game (lawyering)?
She'll have to face the music.
I await your expert responses.
Thanks.
Tom
