I had a house fire and my insurer hired and adjuster company to adjust
my claim which they were paid on commission. The commission was not
for how much they paid me for claim but for how much that they did not
pay me after figuring the damages they notified insurer their guess to
how much the repairs would cost then whatever they saved insurer they
got half of that amount.
Well after around six months of abuse from adjuster company and lies I
got and attorney to represent me. He started out real strong then
started backing up a little more each year. The case ran into nearly
six years. I started catching him in lies and findly went to the court
clerk to find out about my case they told me I was set for trial for
following week. They also called my attorney and told him I came ion
to check on my case. He said that I made him look bad and withdrew as
my attorney. Right after that I seen him driving a new merecedes.
So now I had to find and attorney to represent me in so many days. I
got John Rehn to take my case except John failed to tell me he was
working and training under the attorney for the insurance company. I
had gotten three counts of punitive damages from my first attorney
approved thru the court without any cap on the amount and also was
awarded a jury trial. Well right before going to trial my attorney
agreed with the insures attorney to have two trials the firtst for
vicsasous and unresonable conduct and the second one for fraud which
was to be a bench trial. We went to trial and my attorney would not
object to anything the other one said about me most were lies. I said
that he should object and he said that the jury could see right thru
him I said I did not think that at all he still refused to object. So
i lost the trial then the insurers attorney put in for summary
judgement to not have second trial because won the first one. After a
year the judge ruled in favor of insurance company. But before that I
told my attorney to tell judge about the lies and misconduct of the
other attorney but he said he would not but if lost the summary
judgement he would ask for a new trial on those grounds. I lost and he
then put down on paper the lies and misconduct of the other attorney
and we then went before a judge the judge said to me Well Mr goodyear
had this of been a bench trial I would of ruled in your favor but I
can not over rule a jury in a civil trial. My attorney knew that so
did the other attorney and judge. But I did not know it until then. I
was now so broke from six years of fighting the case I could not go to
the superuim court of Illinois I could not pay the $5000 the court
wanted for transscript. i went brankrupt and was left with $75,000 in
repairsd to my home that insurer never paid.
Does anyone know what i can do about this injustice it has been two
awful years and I ask states attorney to arrest him for fraud but he
said that it was a civil matter not crimnal. But he works in the same
town with the same good ol boys every day. I can not afford to pay
another attorney to take my case but I also know that what he did was
a crime and I am going to pay the rest of my life because of it. He
may as well of held a gun on me and robbed me in the courthouse. The
legal system is corrupt as hell and they need to get it staighten out
where I live out side Of Galesburg Il. My first attorney told me that
his firm paid $20,000 a year to head judge to rule in his firms favor.
I am sure that they all are paid off by each attorney in our town.
Is there attorney out there who is honest enough to step up to the
plate and take these people down? Or a law enforcement agency with the
power to go after these people? If not there will peopler like me
getting cheated for the next hundred years until someone snaps and
shoots them all. And they will deserve it. I know that I retire in a
year in a half and have worked hard all my life only to be cheated by
a couple lawyers so that they could get paid off by insurer when if
they had done their jobs they no doubt would of gotten just as much
and I would of gotten my home repaired and some puntive damages. My
insurer was Rockford Mutual and the year before my fire or claim they
were rated the worst insurer in illinois to pay claims. Yet nothing
was done about it. If anyone can help me please get in touch with me.

Have you reported the Liar, I mean Lawyer to your State Bar? They
will investigate and there is a Client Security Fund(In California) I
don't know about other states, but it's worth looking into. I am going
through them right now, and it looks like I may be able to collect up
to $50,0000.00 that was wrongfullty taken from a settlement check that
we received. Get all documents in order and send it to them, they will
tell you what to do, Good Luck....
