Richard
I've contacted my local law society but haven't heard a thing back.
Where would I find such information. Google searches haven't helped.
P.S. I'm canadian so it's a little different

Just a weird question but what is the typical "legal" time frame that a
company can bill you in? I just received a bill from our lawyer that was
3+ years old. The weird thing is that we have never seen it before and
have done dozens of transactions since with the same lawyer that were all
paid ASAP. Actually my wife and I have never missed a single bill
payment, so it seems a little weird to us that this bill shows up after
three years as overdue.
After 3 years? You might want to check "statute of limitations" for your
state.
After that time, I would assume that someone is trying to clean up old
records and hoping you'll pay it.
Would you pay a bill to a service like your electric company after that
amount of time has elapsed?
Personally, I'd send it back to them and tell them to write it off as a
loss.
Legally, I don't think they stand a chance in collecting it.
