You are not alone, I work in Human Resources and have seen this
situation so many times. Recently, I received a wage Garnishment for
$2500, once the garnishment was satisfied, I called to get it released;
they said that the employee still owed $500 because interest coninued
to acrue! That is so sad - and it is perfeclty legal to do this. Very
unfair. My advice to you and anyone else out there that is in the same
situation is to get a normal loan and pay the student loans off as a
priority because you will be in debt to them for the rest of your life.
And tell everyone that will listen to read the fine print and be very
careful when accepting a student loan. When I was in college I
serindiputously stayed away from the student loan while other students
were using the money for non-school related things, I am sure they
regret it now.
Good luck
.
