You have to show proof to the INS that you have financial means
to support your relative in housing, food, closing and medical
expenses,
and others,as your relative will not be entitled to any sort of
government assistance.
But you will not go to jail if your relative breaks the law. In this
case,
your relative will be immediately deported.

I need some legal advice. I have a relative from outside of the country
and they would like me to sponsor them to come to America. I am not
sure if this is immigration bond or what.
But from what I have research I heard that if this person commits a
crime or does something bad you will have to pay for all of it as you
are the sponsor.
My question is since I have a joint account with my family members and
I told their assets and in the case something does happen to me can I
just take my name off those assets as soon as I suspect something
might happen so it won't be effected when they try to get money from
me? Also, is there insurance that covers this kind of stuff?
.
