Re: Neighbor behaving badly

The attachment did not come through so i pasted it below.

Cheryl was unilaterally changing the rules and violating the bylaws.
The only community involvement I have had was helping Mr. g get the
dredging organized and kicked off. So the other dominated board? is yet
another misconception to convince people that Joe has his finger on the
pulse of reality when in reality he couldn?t be further from the
truth.
2. I have never heard anyone insinuate that the Rotole?s have taken any
money ever. It was only in the last year of their reign that I believe
the Rotole?s had anything other than the best intentions for our
association. I agree with David?s take on their actions since a year
prior to being voted off the board. It became a personal agenda for the
Rotole?s ever since regardless of the impact on the community. I believe
some people may think they had some financial reasons for the war
against the current board because any reasonable person wouldn?t be so
angry and vindictive unless there was some significant loss resulting
from their ousting. Although I can understand some grief as a result of
being voted out of power by your neighbors, I can not fathom being this
upset and abusive unless there was something else at stake and that may
be what prompted this reaction. I still don?t believe they took any
money just that they lost respect among their neighbors. This was self
inflicted and well deserved. They spent more energy achieving this than
we did in the progress that we can all see in the community. Imagine if
that energy had been spent trying to better our lives out here. The
only person I ever heard anyone question in respect to taking money was
a former treasurer and this was purely speculation.
3. When we and I felt that the board was abusing their power to fulfill
an agenda, we protested at the board level and campaigned for change.
Fortunately this worked and the old board was removed resulting in a
significant improvement to our community. A law suit or criminal
charges were never discussed against our neighbors regardless of the
offense. It is fine to disagree but legal action against our neighbors
was never discussed or considered. Like them or not, they are our
neighbors and you don?t sue your neighbors. When we didn?t get the
support we needed to accomplish our goals we refined our proposals and
gained the support that resulted in the construction of a new Clubhouse
and now dredging the canal. When cpd didn?t get the support they
needed, they filed criminal charges, attacked John engineering license,
publically stated that crimes had been committed, and ultimately brought
suit against the board and the individual neighbors who served on the
board. All except one that is. Their buddy Pete. This was extreme and
so far has not delivered the results they expected either. If this
doesn?t play out to their liking what will happen next?
4. A lot of money was spent unnecessarily on many of the projects that
we have completed. Without the threat of lawsuits, things could have
been accomplished much more economically. The township building
department made us walk a strict line with respect to the clubhouse
construction and we felt that we had to do things by the letter of the
worse case law to avoid the inevitable criticism and possible legal
action that could come from cutting some corners that could have saved
us a bunch of money. The building department was also on alert as
Debbie and others were inundating them with complaints and promises to
hold their feet to the fire. The best example of this threat costing us
upwards of $60,000.00 was the decision to require the use of geotex
tubes for the dredging project. If I am not mistaken, these tubes costs
us $56,000.00. We were originally planning to dig a hole and pump the
dredge spoils into the hole and save the expense of these tubes to
reduce the financial burden to the association for this project. The
only reason it was decided to require the use of these tubes was that
we were threatened with the liability of someone falling into the muck.
This was a result of Pete and his buddies screaming doom and gloom and
continuously protesting any aspect of the project that could be
questioned or argued to be a problem in an effort to stop it. I clearly
remember a very heated argument between some of the board members and
those involved in the planning of this project over the geotex tube
issue that ultimately resulted in the decision to protect the
association from the possibility of legal action from the cpd
anti-progress movement. After having the board put under the
prosecutors microscope and the criminal accusations over the clubhouse
parking lot, there was no option but to take any and all precautions to
protect the association and those involved in this project from certain
and possibly criminal accusations of mishandling this very big project.
At the very least we were concerned that by not using these tubes, we
would be accused of safety violations and not looking out for the best
interest of our residents. This was very unfortunate and costly. I
wouldn?t be surprised if the litigious nature of these people cost us
all over $70,000.00 that we shouldn?t have had to spend. This equates
to about $450.00 per lot. That?s more than half the assessment to
dredge the canal.
5. I don?t think anyone out here is naïve enough to believe that every
anti-progress action being taken isn?t controlled, discussed, and paid
for by the cpd faction even though they make it appear that multiple
actions are being taken by several different groups of what they want
people to believe to be ?concerned citizens?. What?s even sadder is
that the few people who support this group have been misled into
following the insurgency. People who I truly believe to be decent
productive members of society like Dan Steve and Leo have been
convinced of the lies spread by pjd and frankly I have given up on
attempting to convince them otherwise. Whats even sadder is that the
friendship between these people was abused which has ultimately
alienated them as well from the rest of the associaton as followers of
Rotole?s. Fortunately I think respect could be re-established for the
rest but I don?t see jpd ever being taken seriously out here again due
to their own fanaticism. A step in the right direction might be to drop
this ridiculous law suit and apologize. As hard as it may be they might
want to show up to help our neighbors accomplish some of the work that
needs to be done out here as well. The only time I have seen any of
these people during the last 3 years was when they came to meetings to
bark, threaten, and waste valuable board time while weekend after
weekend, the rest of our neighbors were volunteering to do whatever
they could to move things along. It was disturbing to see Joe ice
skating while Mike and Dick were helping however they could toward
completion of the clubhouse. While the anti-progress people were
criticizing, condemning and complaining, the rest of us were building a
clubhouse that these people don?t hesitate to use now.
6. As far as the voting procedure being cheatable, I have seen
absolutely zero evidence of this. Also I see no mention of the proxies
that were intended for Ken winding up in the hands of cpd falsified the
validation of the voters signature and passed them on to our former
president. I also see no mention of the Vivian proxy forgery that they
let Lenore Wilson take the wrap for while they were in power. These
indiscretions among others makes one wonder how some of these people
obtained 40 to 50 proxies in the past. Now that security procedures are
in effect, they don?t get nearly this many. HUMMMM?!? It appears that
the membership is making the decisions now not just 2 or 3 people.
Maybe that?s why progress is being made. When I first moved here,
everyone told me that contrary to the efforts of cpd, the canal will
never be dredged because the membership doesn?t want to spend the
money. Funny, once pcd fought against the dredging, the membership
voiced their overwhelming support of this project. Was it really the
membership stopping progress over the years? Think about it!?!
7. Rotole writes that he has chosen not to make this a public issue and
hasn?t promoted his website outside of the peninsula. How much more
?Public? can you make something than posting it on the WORLD WIDE WEB?
Anyone investigating property out here will most likely go to the web
first for information. After reading Joe?s rhetoric, who in their right
mind would consider buying a home here? This could undo all the money
and time spent on our community in respect to our property values. If
people are afraid to buy here, our property is worth nothing if you
don?t have buyers. This affects all of us. I wonder how would feel if
they tried to sell their homes and the potential buyer backed out after
reading Joe?s webslop. I doubt they would support his efforts then. I
suspect this doesn?t bother them as they never plan to sell. Not only
would this be a selfish position, but I doubt their kids would be happy
when they were gone. Again the Rotole?s actions serve the Rotole?s and
their ego only. It certainly doesn?t serve in the best interest of the
community. The major projects are done now and the money spent to the
benefit of all.
