Not exactly. The verb is "to induct", which (according to
www.dictionary.com) can mean:

==> to place ceremoniously or formally in an office or a
position;

==> to admit/receive as a member;

==> to admit to military service.

It comes from a Latin verb "inducere" = in- (in) + ducere
(to lead). FWIW, the verb "to induce" comes from the same
Latin verb.
