fine, but for a special occassion party - it's just wrong!!!! Any
party where is expected that you bring a gift (birthdays,
housewarmings, baptisms, weddings, bridal showers) - you should NOT
have to bring food, too! People rarely offer to bring something for
those types of events, so why would someone have the nerve to expect
it and document it in an invitation? Anyone else had this happen
before? Are prices so high for parties now that every event is
becoming a potluck?


If they are THAT high then you invite the best friend and have hot dogs. I
would not go.

    ... I am not sure how I would react to an "invitation to a party" that is going to cost me $200. ... I have no problem with a pot luck, but being expected to supply beef tenderloin for 20 people plus $40 worth of wine is a bit much, IMHO. ... but maybe if she'd offered to pay for it? ...
