Oh, who asked you about the obvious? Actually, in
thinking back on family members who have had chickens and
gardens, I don't remember any who fenced the garden - they
fenced the chickens. But yeah, either should work.

i fence the spare roosters in. the hens & their "main man" free range, as the original reason we got chickens was to get rid of the ticks in the yard.
we have no ticks in the yard or pasture, very few mosquitoes, & the grub population is way down. the eggs are just a bonus. ;)

You have not mentioned the all-important issue of: do they eat termites?
I'd be willing to give up the garden for that.
