While sweets are a factor, the best thing you can do
to prevent cavities is regular brushing and to make sure he doesn't
have a bottle of milk in bed with him.
Was just curious also as to what others give their kids when it comes
to sweets, or what they avoid and what not.
Eh, in my opinion, for the most part sweets are sweets
are sweets. Some are less empty calories than others, but
it's probably not worth sweating the difference. On the other
hand, I'm pretty lax about it here, so perhaps my advice is
best taken with a grain of salt (?). It's hard to get too
worked up about seriously limiting sweets with kids who are
underweight. I try to make sure their diet is reasonable
and that they get plenty of healthy food, but I don't have
a lot of motivation to be very restrictive of sweets under the
circumstances.
Best wishes,
