I gave my firstborn candy for the first time when she was 1. It was at
Easter, and I put her on the floor with a Cadberry Egg. She went to town!! I
limited candy with the little kids but they did have it. My youngest was
sucking candy canes when she was a baby. There are no food allergies in our
families and I didn't worry about it.
With waffles we do peanut butter mostly. I like how it tates with melted
peanut butter. I can't handle sugar well anymore in my "old age" but as a
child I was fine with it.

Ooo waffles with peanut butter! I never thought about that, thanks for
the tip, sounds yummy.

He had his own "drizzle" cake for his first birthday, which the top 3
inches consisted mostly of icing/whipped cream, which he went to town
with. That has been the most sugar he's probably ever had in one
sitting (most of which covered his face!)
