Iron

I have a question about making sure my 1 year old gets enough iron in
his balanced diet.

If I give him iron fortified oatmeal in the morning, and mix it with
cow's milk, that seems to not be a good idea since they say milk
prevents most of the iron from being absorbed into his body. Is that
the same for Soy milk?

So if I want him to get most of his iron from whatever he eats
throughout the day, i should make sure he's not having dairy with it?
(including yogurt, cheese, etc.)

Seems like a lot of micromanagement involved. I just make sure he gets
veggies, meats, fruits and grains and dairy throughout the day and
hopefully he's getting all of his nutrients. Is that good enough?
.
