I think that in general, PE classes have improved, but
by and large the trend has been towards fewer PE requirements.
Certainly the middle and high school PE classes around here
bear little resemblance to the classes I took. They're much
more focused on lifetime fitness activities. There's still
some time spent on team sports, but much more of it is stuff
that kids could do for a lifetime. Of course, I think they're
only required to take PE through their sophomore year, so there's
plenty of time to backslide before graduation!
